You looked at him with a saddened expression.
"I'm sorry sans. I can't"
You said while closing your eyes.
You wanted so say that it would be possible...But it wasn't
When your eyes opened, you saw his face.
It was blank. Just as if he realized it was over
"C'mon, at-at least try!" Yet he refused to give up on you.
You looked back at him. He was determined to have a reset. So you obliged. Floating over to him and holding the heart locket in your metaphorical hands.
You saw a soul in his hands. His eyes had faintly lost color. The soul was human. Not monster.
"Welp. That's it then...I'm
T r u s t i n.... Y a. . . K i d." You saw his eyes go blank. Slowly he started turning into dust.
You absorbed the soul and quickly went to the save screen.
There was an option. RESET.
but you hesitated before attempting to mash it.
And everything slowly moved. The light of the button grew brighter.
Before fading dim. Along with everything else.

You shot up quickly.
You felt the sheets of your bed on your legs. You looked around.
Chara and Asriel were asleep in a separate bed.
And sans was in the farthest away.
He wasn't asleep though.
"Sans?" You asked while a smile grew on your face.
You stood up and ran over to him not waiting to hug him.
He hugged back.
"H-how long w-was I g-one?" You asked while stepping back.
He looked down.
"Your gonna be surprised. . . But you- and everyone were gone for...8 years." You saw him look down.
"And uh, if your confused on why you didn't true reset... Well I could only do so much." He looked back up
You looked at him happily. "Hey... At least I'm back..."
"Yeah..." He stood up.
"Wonder if pap is here..." He walked out of the room, and over to Papyrus's room.
You slowly followed behind. He slowly opened the door and leaned on the frame.
"Heh.... H-es o-kay." His voice cracked slightly. You could understand why. 8 years... Must have taken a toll on him
But now it was okay.
It was better.
