The New Generosity

***SURPRISE!! Surprise update cuz I love yuh! :)

'This is so hard' I thought. 'I can't do this, I'm gonna die. Please kill me now.' Dragging my feet as I walked while fending off the urge to yawn, I slowly made my way to class with my eyes half-way shut. Suddenly, small hands caught my shoulders frightening me a little more awake.

"Hey, Eren!" Armin smiled with his happy greeting face which quickly turned to furrowed eyebrows and a slight frown of concern. "What's wrong, you look terrible."

I scoffed out a "thanks" and turned to him, stopping in the middle of the hall. "I'm so tired, I was up late last night studying and finishing my homework. It took until like 1 AM."

It was his turn to chuckle and turn his body forward to keep walking, to make a point of his punctualness. "Why didn't you start earlier?"

"Practice ran long yesterday," I sighed, running a hand through my unruly hair. I didn't have time to style it or even consider what I was wearing because I slept in and my mom basically threw me out of my bed, threw a breakfast bar and the house keys at me and shoved me out the door.

Armin shook his head and looked down at his books. "If I were in your position I would be scared shitless, I don't know how you do it."

"Do what?"

He looked around as if someone might listen into our conversation and then leans in to talk in a quieter, hushed voice. "Put up with Levi." He said with a hint of disgust and just a pinch of intimidation.

I chuckled a little and shrugged. "Eh. He's not that bad." I said not fully believing it myself.

"What?" He said with that same face of concern he wore just moments ago. "What is wrong with you, everyone is afraid of Levi accept for a select few that he's been friends with for a while."

"Well, I don't know he's still intimidating but, like, we just kinda have to get along, we're partners. Even though he thinks he's in charge." I do find myself a little annoyed at how he's been treating me. Like he's above me in some way, it was sort of belittling.

"Still..." Armin didn't finish his sentence before we continued to walk into our first period class together.

Lunch was kind of boring, none of us really had anything to talk about which was surprising given we usually talk about everything under the sun whether it be a major event that happened in someone's life or why Sasha brought her whole cupboard for lunch. The whole time was basically void of conversation until Jean casually brought up diving by saying how sore he was from all the exercises coach Pixis has been making us do.

"Practice has been super hard lately all because of the competition that's coming up." He sighed while eating another slice of his apple.

"Yeah, I can't believe coach signed us up for all of the events." Marco shook his head.

"Oh yeah, that reminds me. Hey Eren, how's practicing with Levi going?" Jean asked in a mocking tone when his words landed on Levi's name.

For some unknown reason I felt a tinge of anger when Jean said it like that and I scoffed. "It's fine, why?" I sassed.

"Well, I was just wondering," he chuckled, "It seems like it would be a struggle to put up with him. After all, he is sort of an asshole." Jean explained while taking a bite of his sandwich and displaying a smug look on his face and my anger builds just a little more.
