Nathaniel and Sam look at each other in anticipation. Then out of all of the dust and smoke, a large group of firefighters emerge and walk over to Boden. 'No one is hurt chief. There was no one else in the buildings.' Severide says.
'Hinks.' A voice behind them says. Nathaniel, Sam and Boden all turn around to see the head of the counter-terrorism task force, Special Agent Mark Jones, standing with the rest of their team.
'Martin Hinks?' Nathaniel says. 'Are you sure?'
'M.O matches.' Mark confirms and Nathaniel walks away to make a phone call.
'Sorry. Who are you?' Boden asks.
'Special Agent Mark Jones. Team leader of the counter terrorism task force.' Mark introduces himself.
'Who's Martin Hinks?' Severide asks who is standing next to Boden with Casey.
'He's a high trained criminal. He's been on the FBI radar for 10 years.' Sam tells them. 'He's the son of a firefighter, but instead of putting out fires he, started them. It started when he was 10, with the exact same M.O as today. He's served time for arson before but no more than 3 years.' She continues and as she does, Nathaniel returns.
'He's not serving any time or at any district so I've put an APB and BOLO out.' He informs them.
'Great.' Mark smiles. 'Chief, if it's alright with you, Special Agents Voight and Rosetti will need to enter the building and collect any evidence, once it is safe of course.' As if ears were burning Herrmann joins then.
'Fire's out and the buildings are secure.' Herrmann tells them.
'Sam and Nathaniel, check the buildings, bag any evidence and head to the office. We'll start taking statements.' Mark instructs before walking away.
'Casey, Severide, go with them.' Boden orders. 'Give them a helmet.' Casey and Severide nod and Sam and Nathaniel follow them to the squad vehicle where they give them each a helmet. Once Sam and Nathaniel have their helmets on, they put their gloves on and head into the middle building.
'What are you looking for?' Casey asks.
'Any evidence that this was terrorism, we have the theory, Martin Hinks, he's now classed as a domestic terrorist because of the amount of buildings he's bombed and fires that he has started. He's been doing it since he was 10.' Sam explains. 'We can't arrest him without evidence that matches his M.O.'
'How are going to do that?' Severide questions as they walk into a store room and look around, Sam them moves a shelf.
'All buildings he's been arrested for bombing or suspected of bombing, there's always been a little something, a red and white polka dot handkerchief, in a store room. Normally hidden.' Nathaniel responds.
'Nate.' Sam says as she gets her phone out and takes a picture of the wall which has a message spray painted on and then the handkerchief on the floor that she found. She then puts the handkerchief in an evidence bag, writes on it and then gives it to Nate.
'"Try and stop me.'' He's never left a message.' Nathaniel says reading off of the wall.
'No, but thanks to his little present, we know it's him. We just need to find where he hid the bomb or accelerants.' Sam replies as they walk out of the store room and up to a door. Sam tries to open it but it won't budge.
'Here.' Casey says offering her his Halligan but she just laughs.
'You might want to step back.' Nathaniel warns them. They do as they're told along with Nate and Sam kicks the door down.
'4 locks?!' Nate exclaims. 'New record.'
'Are you still counting?' Sam asks.
'Always.' Nate smiles but that soon turns into a frown. 'Bomb shrapnel.'
'Get CSU to finish processing the buildings.' Sam orders. 'Stay here with them. I'll go update the team.' Nathaniel nods and Sam heads to the office to update her team members.
