When Sam and Nate walk into Voight's office, he hugs Sam and shakes Nate's hand. Hank then sits behind his desk and Sam and Nate sit in the two chairs opposite. 'So why's Hinks in your radar?' Sam asks Hank.
'There's been a string of child abduction cases. At each scene there was a red and white polka dot handkerchief.' Hank starts.
'Like at the fires.' Nate adds.
'I'm assuming you've got more information on Martin Hinks than we'll have.' Hank says.
'Most likely, yes.' Sam nods.
'Let's go update the team then.' Hank replies. He stands up, so does Sam and Nate. They then follow him out. 'Listen up!' Voight shouts and everyone looks his way. 'You all know Special Agent Samantha Voight. This is her collegue Special Agent Nathaniel Rossetti. They are going to be assisting in the investigation and keeping us informed. Sam is the Martin Hinks expert, she knows him inside and out.'
'Martin Hinks, 45, started seting fires since he was 10. He's never gone as far as threaten a child though. He's never abducted a child. It's not his thing. So, he's either doing these abductions for someone or for money. Going by how he's leaving the handkerchief, I'd say he's doing it for money.' Sam tells the team.
'What's the deal with the handkerchief?' Ruzek asks.
'When he was 10, his first fire, he was wearing a red and white polka dot handkerchief that fell off outside the building, with his DNA and the accelerant used to start to fire, on. When local LEOs and the FBI first arrested him he said that whenever he starts a new fire, he'll leave a special present behind, which was later found out to be a red and white polka dot handerchief.' Sam explains. 'Other general information. He's got a 19 year old daughter. She's studying psychology at the University of Chicago. For the past four years, she has been very co-operative with us. She came to us, myself and Nate were only probationary agents at the time, anyway, she came to us and told us the she overheard her father planning a bombing, he didn't succeed, thankfully, we got to him in time. He served 9 months. After that case, we were offered jobs and his daughter, Lilly, became my CI.'
'How come she isn't here then?' Kim asks.
'We put a BOLO or APB out when we need information, she receives that message and calls when she can.' Nate repsonds. 'Normally, she would have contacted us by now.' He frowns looking at his watch.
'We need to find this son of a bitch.' Sam makes herself clear. 'And when we do, and he doesn't own up to the abductions or the explosion this morning, then I'll hand him over to you. I have my methods, you have yours.' The teams nods and Voight steps in.
'Let's get to work tacking him down.' Voight orders. The team nods and gets to work. Nate and Sam get their laptops out of their bags that they brought up with them and log into the FBI database. They then assist intelligence in tracking down Martin.
It gets to about 8pm and they have no luck in finding Martin. Sam walks into Voight's office and sits down. 'We've had no luck.' she sighs.
'Maybe you'll have better luck in the morning.' He reassures her.
'I'm heading to Molly's for a drink with Nate. Do you want to come?'
'I'll pass. I'll keep trying to locate Hinks.' He says. Sam nods and gets up. 'Looking forward to wroking with you Kiddo.'
'You too.' Sam smiles before walking out and meeting Nate down by the car. They get in and Sam drives to Molly's.
When they arrive, they both sit at the bar. 'Sam.' Herrmann smiles. 'What can I get you?'
'Bottle of Coors please Herrmann.' Sam smiles back. Herrmann then turns to Nate. 'He'll have the same.' Sam says and Nate nods in agreement. Herrmann walks away, gets their drinks and returns. 'Pop them on my tab.' Herrmann nods and then walks away whilst Gabby joins. 'Hey girl.' Sam smiles.
'Hey.' Gabby smiles.
'Sam.' A timid, scared voice says from behind her. She turns around and sees Lilly with bruises and cuts all over her body.
'Lilly. What happened?' Sam asks shocked; before Lilly can reply she passes out. Sam and Nate catch her.
