"How could you?" The Seelie Queen, Feather demands. Her voice drips with hatred. She sits on a throne so high up that no one can see higher than her toes. "Trust is important to us Faeries! And you just betrayed us all!"
Skye listens to the Queen drone on and on and she tries not to pass out from being bored. As soon as the Queen starts accusing her she straightens, "What did I do?" She demands, loudly earning a gasp from the Seelie Court. Her best friend, Jeremy nudges her with his left navy blue wing. It feels leathery and she shudders a bit with the touch.
"So you play dumb?" The Queen asks, snarling. Her breath caught Skye off guard and she sent herself back gagging.
"No, my lady," She squeaks, trying not to inhale any more.
"Or are you just denying what you had done?"
Jeremy sucks in a deep breath. To Skye he seems offended, "My lady, what is this crime you speak of?" He asks formally.
"What is different about me, Jeremiah?" The Queen seethes. Stepping off of her throne. She floats down until she easy right in his face. She growls, "What do you not see?"
Jeremy pales and Skye quickly steps in to save her best (and only) friend, "No, Your Highness. My friend nor I see any mistakes of you." A faint smile dances on her lips as she curtsies. "Although, I may add that there may be a small stain on your blouse. Did I do that?"
Jeremy yanks on Skye's beautiful angelic Aqua blue wings to signify she had gone to far. She gives him a warily glance then shrugs. Expecting the Queen to be angry, she pouts miserably.
But the Queen stays clam, for she knows of all of Skye's sarcastic tricks. Instead, she let a small smile escape, "Yet, you did not realize there is not a crown on my head?" She asks, malice creeping into her voice, "It is proof of your evil schemes to unthrone myself!"
Another gasp arouses the Court and conversations start up again:
"Jeremy and Skye?"
"Stealing the Highnesses crown?"
"I would have never thought..."
"EXACTLY!" The Seelie Queen shrieks, pointing a bony finger at the two minor Faeries who look absolutely horrified. "These two are thieves! They wish to-"
Skye's usually small voice rises above the others', "But we didn't!" She cries, her eyebrows furrowing. Tears escape her eyes and fell swiftly down to her favorite dress, "We never hurt a fly. Why would we steal your crown?"
Feather grimaces, her old wrinkles showing, "Are you supplying that I hid the crown and then framed you?"
Jeremy speaks out, "Of course not, My Lady!"
"...I would never want one of my Fae children hurt," the Queen murmurs, looking down at her feet, "I cannot say the same for my children. If they lie, so be it. If they steals so be it. But I cannot bear for one of them to do both at the same to to the Seelie Queen! It just breaks my heart apart in two..." A sob tears through her and she shudders.
Skye watches in silence as the Queen regains and strides over to her. In a quick 3 steps, she arrives nose to nose with her. Seeing the beady eyes of the Seelie Queen, she squeezes her eyes shut, unable to bear the searing pain.
"The fact that she avoids me is that she is lying!" She snarls, glaring at Skye. In a much quieter voice, she growls, "Do not turn my Court against me. They will not listen to a puny Faerie they believe is Rogue."
A confused look dawns on Skye's face and she staggers backward, stumbling on a small Fay child. A flash of pain flies from her wings to her head. Fear chews at her stomach.
"A punishment is necessary! Any ideas from the Seelie Court?"
Several hands are raised and Skye wishes she could shrink down to nothing. She glances at Jeremy who seems to have the same wish as her.
"A week in the Hornet pen?" Serena asks. She is a petit brunette with crimson wings. A Hornet is almost like a horse except much more swift.
"Too nice." The Queen waves off her idea and Serena breaks down into tears. The Queen however grins that 'dazzling' smile of hers and Skye knows she found what she wants to do. "Banishment. Perfect."
Skye gasps, "Why? We didn't do anything! We don't deserve this!"
"That is correct, ms. SparkleBlossom. You deserve death. Be happy I was nice enough to let you live. I never want to see you in Faerie Realm ever again."
Skye's eyes widen, "What?" She asks, "A lifetime Banishment?! That is almost eternity!" Almost begging, she cries.
"No." Feather snaps, thoughtfully, "I need something worse. No relatives will be welcome near this area either.
A choked cry came from Jeremy. "Why? Banishing us is one thing, but our families?" He steps forward and reaches to take the Queen's hand. She yanks it away though and glares at him.
"Be lucky. I am letting you live. A horrible decision," she murmurs the last part to herself. "I expect you gone by Dawn tomorrow. Our sunrise director will knock at your door an inspect. If you are not gone by that time I will have nothing to to but Execute you."
Of course, Skye realizes. She wants nothing to do with us. If it means killing us then she will. The thought sends chills up her spine.
After a few minutes, the Seelie Queen dismisses Court. With one final glare, she majestically leaves the court room leaving Jeremy and Skye watching wide eyed and afraid of what might happen next.
