"What in the living day lights was that horrid noise?" James asks, entering the girls' room a few minutes later. His hands are cupped over his ears in mock pain, "sounded like a murderer tried to kill a rabbit the evil way. We came to put it out of its misery," he looks around their shoulders, "so...where is it?"
Marley groans, tired of all of her brother's tricks and jokes, "haha." She snorts sarcastically, "you are such a comedian!"
Skye appears to be shell shocked. The boy had heard her. And he hated her singing! An uneasy feeling washes over her and she wishes she never got in trouble in the first place. She hates lying like all Faeries do. Her wings flap nervously and miss Marley by a smidgen.
James sees her look of alarm and laughs, "I wasn't laughing at you! You actually sounded pretty good! For you know...a girl." He blushes and flips his hair like a certain celebrity that even the Faeries know.
She relaxes slightly, "I miss my home." Is all she could bring her mouth to say. Her aqua eyes found Jeremy's which are hidden behind James'. His eyes are clouded for some reason as if he didn't want her to read her expressions.
"We all do, don't worry Skye. You'll find a home." Marley pats her shoulder as if she is a small little baby Fae. Her eyes narrow and she shys away from the humans touch. No matter how nice they seem, humans think up pretty devious things and Skye remembers not to trust them.
"Probably not. Who would want this child working for them?" She asks, her wings trembling an inch from expanding and hitting Marley. They hadn't stretched in days.
Jeremy coughs, "everybody. You could be famous singer." He says, forgetting his grammar.
The siblings nod, seriously. "It is true. You have a beautiful voice. Who taught you how to sing?" James says, avoiding the glare his sister tries to give him.
"My mother gave me lessons so long ago. Every day I was in my room practicing. My mom said boys lined up just to hear me sing but I think she is lying."
"She wasn't lying," Jeremy murmurs softly, barely loud enough for anyone to hear. Skye suspects he is saying it to himself and eyes him questionably,"I was one of those boys..."
Marley and her brother stifle a laugh, "You?!"
Jeremy doesn't duck his head this time. Instead, his dark eyes glow. "Can I not have feelings of friendship?" He asks, proudly.
Skye immediately steps in, "Obviously! I've stood outside listening to his band playing for hours! His guitar playing was divine!" She says, honestly, shooting a look of despair at her comrade.
"You have?"
"Of course, Jeremy! You're my best friend! I'd be rude if I didn't listen to your music" Skye snaps, making the whole group flinch. They barely ever see her angry.
Marley and James exchange glances and seem to have a private conversation, "Are you hungry? We sure are!"
