jimin hated his mornings.

even more so when it was a monday one, which meant an earlier alarm, dragging himself out of bed without having an excuse not to, and getting ready for universityㅡand how he detested university. university with taehyung. with hoseok. with taehyung and hoseok. what a disaster.

GUKIEMONSTER has started following you.

well, jimin usually hated his mornings.

it only took him a few moments to interpret the meaning behind the usernameㅡcookie monster, kookie, jungkook. gukie monster, gukie, jeongguk.

jeongguk had found him.

it wasn't like jimin had been wide awake for a major portion of the night, staring up at the ceiling and worrying. it wasn't like he'd picked up his phone every few minutes and checked his notifications, or that he'd vented his frustration at his past self for not making sure that jeongguk could definitely find his account by gargling water for five minutes straight.

but this made up for everything. jimin's initial sleepiness due to not meeting his required number of hours of sleep had evaporated, being replaced by a more childish, hyper emotion that was bringing out jimin's inner ballerina and urging him to bust out a few moves.

instead, jimin ate his cereal.

all the while staring down at his phone and occasionally putting his spoon down to giggle madly, snapping himself out of it by patting and stretching his face, then attempting to eat his cocoa pebbles only for the same thing to happen again. and again and again and again.

it had obviously been a while since jimin had had a crush.

it wasn't that he rarely liked peopleㅡjimin had felt fleeting sparks of attraction to pretty much all the people taehyung had set him up with. (taehyung was admittedly quite good at picking out people jimin could potentially fall for, and though jimin liked to blame taehyung for his dates going wrong, most of the time it was his own awkward self's fault. but don't tell taehyung that.)

but a crushㅡthat was a whole different case. crushes weren't people that jimin only liked, they were people who he found frustrating, infuriating; and as far as crushes went for him, they were people he couldn't have.

which just made them all the more frustrating and infuriating.

jimin had only had one other legitimate crush before in his twenty years of existence, dating back to his high school days of puffy cheeks and geeky glasses.

and he could suddenly see it all unravel in front of him as if he was another student of the schoolㅡthe camera focuses on lee taemin, glossy hair swept back and perfect white teeth on display in a grin, flocked by the rest of his chattering gang. and then the view swivels to high school jimin, books under his arm and eyes wide with adoration, along with high school taehyung at his shoulder.

every now and then, a little high-pitched laugh would manage to escape jimin's lips, followed by him covering the lower half of his face with a hand and squeezing his eyes shut, then reopening them a few seconds later; and thus the cycle would go on.

"you've got the Criggles," taehyung had pointed out after the cycle had gone through its seventh round that day.

not understanding taehyung's language was something familiar to jimin, so he'd just nodded listlessly in response and moved a few steps away from his best friendㅡno hard feelings for taehyung, but simply a case of a few students deciding to walk past taemin and simultaneously obstructing jimin's view. "cool, cool."
