LIAM: You’d been begging Liam to have a barbecue all summer long. He hadn’t been around much due to work, but you’d been dying to have one if you ever got the chance. You’d gone out on the last official summer Saturday on a shopping trip with your friends, thinking Liam would be at the studio all day. In reality he’s back at home busily grilling up some food and setting things out for the barbecue he’s throwing for you. “What’s all this?” you ask, walking up the driveway and spotting all the hoopla in the backyard. “It’s the barbecue you’ve been wanting!” he announces proudly. “Go on and put your things away and join your party,” he tells you as he flips the burgers on the grill. “You’re too much,” you beam, quickly ushering yourself into the house with your friends in tow as you all drop your things and join the rest of the people in your yard.
NIALL: “Having fun?” Niall asks you through a mouthful of food. “I’m having a blast,” you say on a laugh. “Thank you.” “Anything for you, babe. You just seemed so down lately, I thought the best thing for you was a little time spent with the people who love you most - and who doesn’t love a good barbecue?” “I don’t think anyone can resist a good barbecue,” you agree, taking a sip of your iced tea. “Louis! I told you to stay away from that!” you hear Zayn call out. You and Niall both turn to find Louis manning the grill and flames shooting up from it. “Turn the gas down!” Harry shouts, laughing unhelpfully. “Have you got a fire extinguisher?” you hear Liam call to you and Niall. “I take that back,” is all you say as you watch the scene unfold before your eyes and Niall jogs over to remedy the situation.
ZAYN: “Congratulations!” you hear Zayn shout at you the moment you step through the door. “Thanks!” you chirp, welcoming his embrace. You’d been away for the last few days for work, and while you were gone your boss had offered you a promotion that you didn’t hesitate to accept. You begin rattling on about your trip, but Zayn interrupts your story. “I would love to hear about that…later. Right now, I have something for you that just can’t wait.” “Ok…” you state uncertainly, allowing him to lead you towards the back door. When he opens the door, you are pleasantly surprised to spot all of your loved ones milling about, enjoying the sunny afternoon. “Hey, there’s the lady of the hour!” your brother announces, drawing all the attention to you. “You did all this?” you ask Zayn. “Sure did! You deserve it, baby.” You beam and step off the deck to greet your guests.
LOUIS: On a whim, Louis had offered to do the grocery shopping for you one day, and you gratefully let him go. When he returns, he’s carrying in enough food to last you both a year. “That is the last time I let you go to the grocery store unsupervised,” you mention, unamused as you watch him unload his purchases. “It’s for the barbecue,” he informs you as though it should have been obvious. “What barbecue?” you ask, raising your brow. “The one we’re having tomorrow that I’m throwing for you because you are the best girlfriend in the world and deserve it for putting up with me and my lifestyle for so long,” he mentions, throwing in a cheesy grin at the end. “Maybe I should have mentioned it before. Guess I just forgot,” he says, unphased, giving you a one-shouldered shrug. “Awww, you’re so sweet,” you coo, wrapping him in a hug and giving him a peck to the lips.
HARRY: There hadn’t been any rain in the forecast, but the grey clouds that seem to be moving towards you don’t look too promising. Despite the impending inclement weather, Harry insists on getting everything set up outside. Things are going well and the sun seems to be winning in the weather battle…until everyone is serveral bites into their food. That’s when the sky opens up and it begins to downpour out of nowhere. Your guests rush to seek the dryness of the house while Harry moves to cover the grill. Luckily you’d convinced him to let you put the food under a canopy. When Harry finally makes his way into the house, he’s drenched. “I didn’t know you got a pool put in!” Louis mocks, clapping his friend on the shoulder. Harry shakes his hair out like a dog before looking you dead in the eye. “I’m never throwing you another barbecue again,” he grumbles. “Nobody asked you to throw this one!” you remind him, laughing as you say it.
