Fionna POV
Today was Monday and the day I have to break up with Flay. I have no idea how since I never broke up with someone before. Hmm...I bet Marshall could help. You could call him an expert since he's been in a lot of relationships although I don't know if you could really consider them 'relationships'.
I got up and ready for the day. I left the house and there was Marshall waiting for me. I walked to his car, opened the door, and got in.
"I thought you were only gonna bring me home not pick me up," I stated.
"I was but then I changed my mind. I mean you can walk if you want to," he said smirking like he always does. I rolled my eyes.
"No, I don't wanna walk. I was just curious, ok. By the way how do you break up with someone," I guess this question kind of surprised him because he didn't answer for a while. And this rarely happens. The only other time this happened was when I asked him to stay over on saturday.
"Well, uh. You have to be nice while doing it but still make it clear that you don't wanna be with that other person," he explained.
"That's it?" I asked.
"Pretty much but also don't make it seem like it's easy for you even if it is. Make it seem like you're having a hard time getting the words out," he added.
"You mean hesitate?"
"Yes. If you do all of that it will save you trouble," I nodded
"Why are you even asking?" he questioned.
"I, uh, wanted to break up with Flay."
Marshall POV
"I, uh, wanted to break up with Flay."
"Oh." that was the only thing I could say.
It took me a while to finally realize what she just said. I don't know why but that sentence made me happier. I don't even like her in that way. Or do I? No, we're just friends. Nothing more. I guess it's because I don't like Flay.
We arrived at school about 30 minutes early but I always arrive at about this time. It gives you time to prepare for the school day. I know this sounds weird coming from me but I do believe in education. Just because I'm a player doesn't mean I can't have good grades but nobody knows except Fionna. When I told her she laughed at me because I sounded like a nerd, which is weird for a guy like me.
"Hey, I have to go upstairs to turn some papers in, see you in first period," Fionna waved 'bye' and left. I walked towards my locker and got my stuff out. I usually leave all of my stuff here because we have online textbooks and submit homework on the computer.
I was walking to my first period when I suddenly bumped into someone. I would've said 'sorry', maybe, but I was busy picking up my folder. Turns out the person I bumped into was Flay. Great.
"Oh, sorry Marshall Lee. I hope I didn't mess up anything," Flay said acting like he actually cared.
"Save it! I'm not stupid," I snapped.
"Whatever. You're just mad because Fionna wants me not you," I was about to laugh because he didn't know that Fionna was going to break up with him today. But instead I just glared at him.
"Fionna is my friend. Nothing more," and with that I left.
Fionna POV
First through fourth period went by fast and now it was lunch time. I have to find Flay. After a while I saw him standing with a group of other guys. I walked over to them and asked Flay if we could talk in private. Flay left the group and we walked to an empty hallway.
"What is it, Fionna?" FP asked.
I didn't know how to start but before I could freak out I took a deep breath and remembered everything Marshall told me earlier in the car.
"Uh, look...FP...I-I don't think this is going to work out. Me and y-you. "
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"I mean I'm b-breaking up with...you."
There I finally did it. I felt good and bad at the same time.
He didn't look very happy.
"This is because of Marshall Lee, right?"
"N-No, we are j-" he cut me off before I finished my sentence.
"STOP LYING. Wait until I find him..." those were his last words before he stomped away probably to find Marshall. Oh no.
