Murdered

Astra's Pov

It is when he said those words that I felt my heart beat so quickly.  I still don't understand why so many say he is cold and useless.  Almost every moment he is with me, I can see kindness in his eyes.  Sure, I noticed towards others it is not the same  as it is towards me but I can see every time he isn't trying to be mean but at the same time isn't nice at all.

His words may be harsh sometimes but he has a reason why he says them.  Through his actions I know he is someone kind.  I have seen many times when he thought no one was watching he would always train hard practicing his sword.   Also once when a girl was almost hit with an arrow where others were doing archery, he stopped the arrow right before it hit her neck and everyone thought he was trying to harm her.  But even then when everyone misunderstood, he never said a thing about how it wasn't him and instead a different student who almost killed her.

Anyways now isn't the time to be thinking about such things.  I turn and run a few feet away from them before jumping into the trees where I could see them.  I focus on the third prince and the spirit beasts that were on the ground and make sure I am far enough away.  It was then that the third prince takes out his sword that was by his side.   The sword was black and had a red design on it.

'That sword, it looks familiar,' I thought to myself but I couldn't remember where I had seen it before.  Every time I tried to remember my head would start to hurt so I decided to forget about it.  'Besides, if I can't remember it, there must be something that makes those who see his sword forget about it.  And if thats so then I believe that the third prince isn't going to do anything bad so it doesn't matter,' I thought with a carefree attitude and calm face.  

Suddenly I was on guard.  The third prince suddenly disappeared and I couldn't even see where he went or sense him at all.  'How is this possible?!  He doesn't have any spirit rings and only those who are strong are able to hide their presence when they reach a certain level.  The next thing I know, more than half of the spirit beasts are dead with a single sword wound where their chests are.  Only the leader and five of them remained.  

"Huh, did he just kill them," I say in disbelief.  Even if they tried to kill me, they are still my kind even if I'm a half blood.  "No, it can't be possible, the third prince wouldn't do that right?"

"You brat, how dare you kill my people," the leader shouts out in anger.  He rashly starts to attack the third prince.  But the prince easily dodges all the attacks.

"Your movements are sloppy, do you honestly think that you can defeat me," I hear him respond coldly.  My body starts trembling when I hear his tone of voice.  The next minute everyone was dead.  The third prince turns to me and I see nothing in his eyes that scared me.

Since it startled me and I lost balance.  *Kyaaaaaaaa!*  Startled I accidentally scream.  I close my eyes waiting for the pain but the next thing I knew I felt someones warm arms around me.  Opening my eyes I see that I was in the arms of the third prince.

*Slap* (A.N. Sorry I don't really know how I should make sounds or noises)  I don't know why, perhaps it was because my heart was racing when I looked at him or because I witnessed him murder my own kind as if it didn't matter. 

I shook off his arms and jump to the ground.  "Don't touch me," I say coldly while looking at him with cold emotionless eyes.

"Astra," he says looking at me shocked.  I see his expression turn to hurt and betrayal was written across it.  But I didn't stay, no rather I don't think I could have stayed.  I quickly turn and run away with his betrayed and hurt expression engraved into my mind.  I wasn't sure what I should think.  Surely he didn't have to kill him so why did he?

I return to camp where everyone was.  I was asked where the third prince was but I didn't tell them and went straight to the tent and hid under the blankets trying to forget what I saw.  I heard the third prince return shortly after but I didn't go back out.  Everyone noticed something was wrong and I'm glad they didn't push us to tell them.

The rest of the trip went by with me avoiding the third prince while he tries to talk to me.  Now today is the last day and sensei picks us up.  When we get back to the academy I lock myself in my room.

"Why did you do that?  Why"  I whisper quietly to myself and cry for the rest of the day and all night.

LingLin282:  Hi everyone sorry I didn't update yesterday and sorry its to short for some people.   I had a test I took today and so I didn't have a chance to update until now.  Are you surprised at the turn of events?  Don't worry, the third prince and Astra will make up in the next chapter. ^^  So anyways will you tell me your thoughts on my story please? I know that the chapters aren't that great and as I mentioned I will probably go through and fix the story once I find the ending,  though I'm not sure when that is, it won't be finished for a long time I'll tell you that.  Again don't forget to comment please and see you next time
