Astra's Pov
Today we finally are getting the last ingredient needed for me to cure Toshiaki. I'm wearing the necklace from the boy names Satoshi but I don't know why it feels important to me. We travel to where we can find the venom of the Krerkukite snake spirit beast. But in order to find this snake spirit beast, we have to go to where Chiyo was born. We all can tell that Chiyo is pale and doesn't want to return there, but she tells us that she is ok and we should continue on. There isn't much we can do, so I just let Chiyo stay in her spirit beast form and wrap herself around my arm. Traveling to Chiyo's birthplace is not far and at most we will arrive before sunset.
We all are silent when we finally reach the boarder of the snake spirit kingdom.
"Will you be alright Chiyo? You don't have to come with us inside there, you can wait out here for us," I tell her concerned.
"No it's alright master Astra, I will be eorfectply fine, it's my duty to protect you and I will." She says and takes a deep breathe to calm herself.
"Chiyo, you know I don't like you calling me master, and we are the same remember. I don't want you to say it's your duty to protect me because it sounds like the only reason why you are around me is to protect me , but we're friends, and I will always be there for you like you are for me, not because of our contract," I tell her gently and smiling. Since my outfit doesn't cover my arms, I can see Chiyo.
"Astra," she says looking at me surprised, "Thank you," she says and smiles back.
"Don't thank me, we're friends and we should always be there and help each other out. I tell her scoldingly and she laughs.
"Will you be alright?"
"I'll protect you."
I'm sure you already know who said what but Toshiaki said the first and Shin the second. Chiyo looks at them both and thanks them too.
"Thank you everyone, and even you I suppose Shin," she says and Shin grins while Toshika nods his head.
"Alright, since we are ready now, let's go," I say and we head in.
"Astra, I really will protect you forever, I promise you this." Chiyo says this in her mind.
We head inside and when we are stopped by the other snakes that protect their kingdom but are in the form of a human, I tell them who I am and they lead me to the castle.
"Princess Astra of the wolf spirits, it's an honor to meet you in person," the king says and greets me upon his throne. He is not in his human form and instead his snake form, well rather his natural born form of who he is. And not only that, he is also a Krerkukite spirit beast.
"The honor is mine your majesty." I say and properly greet him as I should as a princess of the wolf spirit beasts.
"Shin, one of the strongest spirit beasts in his generation yet abandoned his own kind for another, Toshiaki, lost prince of the fire dragons, and Chiyo, the disgrace to our kind being half human and half spirit beast," the king looks at us all in disdain. We all freeze in shock when he knows that much about them.
"Let me guess, your here for the blood to cure the little prince here, aren't you?" He questions tauntingly. I tighten my hand into a fist as I can sense that things won't go easily as we hoped.
"Yes, your majesty, we are hoping you will help us return Toshiaki to what his body should originally look like," I ask the king.
"And why should I do that?" The king asks not interested in our conversation and looks away. I see that everyone else is starting to get angry and I tell myself that I have to calm down no matter how much I'm starting to hate this king.
"Because it's your kind that played a part in making Toshiaki become like this," I say as calmly as I can.
"Nah, I gave my venom to his stepmother, so why should I help you? She will be greatly displeased if I do so and even then if she doesn't care I wouldn't want to give it to you anyways," he says this and I snap.
"So your telling me you knew this would happen yet you allowed it?"
"Yes."
"Then, I will no longer be courteous." I say angrily.
"Neither shall I, everything is now too boring," the king says yawning, "Guards, capture these spirit beasts and execute them tomorrow morning. The king says this and gets up from his throne.
We all fight but even though we severely injured many of the kings soldiers, our strength was not enough to win over the kingdom. In the end we are captured and brought to an underground cell which is infused or rather made out of special metal that restricts out spirit rings and powers. Also, we are forced into out spirit beast forms except for Toshiaki who still cannot return to his.
"What should we do?" Toshiaki asks calmly.
"Kill them all? Or let them live, in endless pain and fright?" Toshiaki says somewhat calmly with a hint of evil in his voice.
"I vote for killing them all, but we can slowly kill them. I can't believe I allowed myself and you all to be captured by these scaly creatures, no offense Chiyo, you are beautiful this way but they are not," Shin says just like Toshiaki but gives Chiyo an apologizing look when he said something about her kind.
"It doesn't matter, and so what, do you really think what I care about what you think." Chiyo says this but I know that she does care, even if she doesn't realize it. "I will not allow them to kill us though, so if we have to kill, then so be it." She closes her eyes.
"There will be no need to us to dirty our hands," I say calmly with my eyes closed as I sit with my wall against the cold underground cell. I wouldn't allow ourself to walk defenselessly into an enemy territory. And yes, I did say enemy. I already know that this kingdom is corrupted and sent word to my uncle what has happened recently. So he should arrive here shortly with our army. I also told uncle to contact the king of fire dragons to inform his of where his son is and what happened to him. So Toshiaki's people should be here soon. "Blood will be shed by our people's hands if this kingdom dares to harm us. They will pay for their evil deeds." I say coldly with no emotion in my voice.
