The Journey

To see the world 134 years after you have met your maker is an  exhilarating and terrifying experience. We traveled at night, flooding the streets of cities that were images I've only imaged in my dreams. Cars, houses, cell phones, tvs; all of it so breathtaking. Yet there I stood in the midst of it all feeling like an outsider.  This was wrong. I was not meant for this time. I often questioned God along the journey but with no answer in return, I marched towards the one person that could give me an answer:  Elijah.

"Amelia"? One of the men called my name from the shadows of a camp we had set up just outside a gated city. I walked over to them and sat down, waiting to hear the game plan.

"This is the gated city of Epidima, where the King and all his servants stay. In order to get in, we want to use you as leverage. We will walk you up to the gate and when security spots you they will alert Elijah. He will be too shocked to not let you in and gather answers. This is the plan", the woman said.

"When we arrive, they will kill us. You, however; Elijah will not kill you. He has spent 134 years living with the fact that he killed his soul mate. We are hoping seeing you again will bring back some humanity inside of him. When this happens, you need to take this dagger and run it through his heart", she carried on as she handed me a gold plated dagger.

I ran my fingers over the cold metal, letting it nip at my skin. Something so small and beautiful held such a horrible curse. Could I do it? Should I do it?

He killed me. I had just said I do to his proposal and his lips caressed my mouth. His hands roamed my body, leaving tracks of fire along the way. He had a way of burning me. So much passion in one man, and I needed all of it. All of him. I closed my eyes as his hands slid into my underwear, his thumb slowly sliding over my clit. My hips began to rock naturally, we had been here so many times before. But just then, just as his fingers penetrated me, I felt a sting in my chest. I opened my eyes to find him smiling; such a beautiful smile. The stinging pulled me out of my trance. A knife stuck out of my chest, just in the place where my heart lies. Confused and still breathing, I looked up at Elijah. He ran a finger along some of the blood dripping off my chest and then put his finger in his mouth. His eyes watching me the entire time. After that, everything went black.

I replayed that scene in my head all night. My soul breaking a little more each time. I did not know if I could kill him, or even if I wanted to, but I needed answers. I was going in that gate no matter what.
