If I could breathe, the air would have gotten stuck in my throat. I felt myself quiver as I locked eyes with the monster standing outside the car. He was about 50 feet away from me but my veins felt frozen from fear. My hand quickly squeezed Elijah's as I brought his attention to the devil. Elijah didn't squeeze back or freak out- he simply intertwined his hands in my hair and gently turned my face around to his.

My eyes locked onto his blue ones and I'm sure he could see the desperation and terror lined in them. His lips gently came down and met mine. My eyes stayed open until he gently sucked on my bottom lip- my body melted into his; temporarily forgetting the nightmare standing outside.

Elijah pulled away and gently spoke.

"It's just a trick love. Smoke and mirrors- he's clearly got some sort of witch helping him track us", he whispered. I could hear a faint ringing in my ears.

I turned to look outside again and saw nothing but the sunset stretching across the land. My voice shook as I spoke.

"Does this mean he knows where we are"?

"No- he's simply trying to play mind games with us in hopes that we make a mistake". With  that being said, I finally felt my muscles relax. I turned towards the man beside me once again.

"What is our plan, Eli"? I asked, my nerves began to fade as I felt the car take off again.

"We move across seas. Somewhere far away and remote until we can track who brought you back. Everyone is convinced it was I but atlas, it was not. They may hold the missing piece to this thousand year horror show", he quietly said. My eyes scanned over the soft features of his face before I sighed and nodded.

I sat back and thought about everything that had happened to me in the last few months. I had become a vampire. I've been beaten, raped, lied to, confused, and set up. I've reunited with a friend and lost her months later. I've learned what true love is, and it's sitting in the car right beside me.

I should be depressed- but I was oddly content. We would figure this out and finally get to have a peaceful life together, we had to.
