Elijah turned me around so that both of my legs were on either side of him. I felt heat creep up onto my cheeks when his strong arms pulled my chest against his. It's not often that you are given the sole attention from a flawless being in such an intimate position. Elijah's eyes searched mine for a solid minute before the corners of his mouth lifted. I fought from closing my eyes when his finger lightly brushed my hair behind my ear.
"I cannot began to explain how much I've missed you darling". The room seemed to be completely silent. I contemplated how to respond.
"I cannot image what you've been through", I decided on saying. My heart felt sad at picturing the life he has had- sentenced to an eternity of solitude. My eyes lifted to meet his piercing blue stare. We were quiet for a few minutes, just observing each other. Elijah had always been a calculating man.
"Amelia", he whispered. My heart leaped into my throat as I fought back tears.
"That man in the castle- that man stole you from me long ago". My brows furrowed at this statement.
"Eli, please explain. I cannot bare to be in the dark any longer". His hands slid down my back and he twisted my shirt into his fists.
"The night you were killed, I was also murdered. The man from the castle saw me on the streets in our village and stalked me for months. He was an evil creature and saw a perfect opportunity for a new life. He used my identity to steal my parents fortune after he murdered us and somehow built an empire of blood drinking junkies".
I licked my lips to stop my mouth from going dry. Although it was hard to believe- I suppose it did make sense. I tried to wrap my head around what he was telling me. I snaked my arms around his neck to bring myself closer to him- seeking comfort.
"How does that explain what we are"? I asked him.
"Vampires. We are vampires. That's the only term I've ever known for it. The man from the castle had long been dead before he saw me. I'm not sure why or how but as apart of some sick game he decided to try and clone himself. I looked exactly like him- but we were too different for his plan to work out".
My shoulders slumped. Could it really be? Could all of this just be a sick game of fate? My mind buzzed.
"I know this is a lot Amelia. I am so sorry for all that has happened. I have so much to tell you. Still so much", he stated as he brought his forehead down to mine.
"Who brought me back"? My voice cracked. Elijah brought his blue eyes down to mine and I shivered at how penetrating his stare was.
"That, my darling, is what I'm trying to figure out. When I heard that you were brought back I thought it was a joke. I snuck into the castle to see you but couldn't take you with me until I knew it wasn't a plot from the devil himself". Elijah frowned.
The night began to catch up to me. I had learned so much but was left with so many questions. Where has Elijah been all this time? Why are they calling him king? Who brought me back? It was all too much. As if he could sense my confusion Elijah picked me up and headed out of the room.
"You need rest my love", he said gently. I quietly agreed.
I was brought into a room bigger than any house I'd ever lived in before. I knew it was Elijah's room by the smell- warm and sweet. Elijah gave me some of his clothes and politely stepped out while I had a shower. I washed myself in his soap and found comfort in knowing these were his things.
As I laid down in bed Elijah entered, wearing only his boxers. I blushed when my eyes skimmed his body.
"Can I sleep with you"? He asked. My eyes widened and my mouth opened a little. I didn't realize what I did until his laugh echoed around the room.
"In the bed- can we share the bed"? He smiled. I rolled my eyes and nodded yes.
When his arms wrapped around me I couldn't help but to break down in tears. We held each other close, understanding that words were no longer needed. I had my Elijah back. I had went through so much and here he was, right beside me. I fell asleep with a smile on my face.
