I walked with my head low and my hood over my head blocking my face from everyone’s view as I avoided any contact with anyone my whole body ached at the mere thought of coming into contact with anything. I was pushed off balance by a big crowd falling to the ground I winced in pain biting down on my lip to stop a scream from erupting, tears stung my eyes and I couldn’t move at all. I felt hands around my waist helping me up to a stand then I saw him with worried eyes and hair falling over his face.
“Are you alright?” Drake asked with a worried look.
“Peachy,” I muttered keeping my eyes on the ground. “Now leave worm monkey.”
“Still mad at me from yesterday?” He looked straight into my eyes but I didn’t get a chance to answer before his hand came up to my cheek his eyes instantly hard as they came down looking at the bruise. “What happened?”
“I fell,” I lied instantly.
“On your face?” He growled. “Don’t lie, what happen?”
“It was an accident, okay?” I pulled away suddenly feeling anger that he had dared to bring up the bruises I let out an outburst. “None of your god damn business!”
“Come on.” He grabbed my wrist in his hand I took a quick breath inward as he pressed down on my wounds that had been bandaged the night before. He pulled me to the roof where I pulled my wrist out of his grasp hiding my self-inflicted wounds from his ever searching eyes. “What the hell happened?”
“I told you nothing happened,” I glared at my feet. “Why do you even care?”
“You know how I feel about you and those bruises don’t just pop up on your face.” His expression like stone, I don’t think I had ever seen him this angry before.
“Stop being such a buttwipe,” I tried easing the mood. “It was just a stupid accident.”
“Stop lying,” he yelled grabbing my upper arms. I couldn’t hold back the small cry of pain that slipped through my lips, he unzipped my hoodie pulling it away from my arm then from the other seeing the wounds and bruises. “Who the fuck did this?”
“No one,” I said quietly. “It wasn’t really a big deal, there’s been worst times.”
“I’m going to find out who did this and when I do they’re dead!” He growled leaving with a slam of the door angrily, I stood there then pulled on my hoodie and backpack. I had to go to class. Class, the voice questioned, Drake is going to find out your secret and your worried about class? Moron.
“What can I do about it?“ I whispered hoarsely.
How about stop him, the voice taunted. If he finds out I’m dead, if he doesn’t find out Jamie will kill me anyways from all the beatings either way I was damned to hell and my mom’s still in rehab. All I had ever wanted was my mom to be home and to rescue me from Jamie from life her words came back, deal with it.
I had been busy with feeling sick that I hadn’t notice piercing ice blue eyes staring at me from the door with envy and disgust, what those eyes were going to bring into my life I wasn’t prepared for. I got the nerve to go to class, throughout the day I stayed away from everyone, Brandon had tried to comfort me but I had pushed him away too. Ally was nowhere to be found and I skipped Nick’s class because the wise teacher would notice. I had seen Drake and avoided him at all cost afraid he’d bring it up, something in his eyes told me he knew something so I went to Jackson.
“Did you say anything?” I demanded.
“Sweet pea, how in the hell am I suppose to say anything when I don’t even know what he wants to know?” He asked in a gentle voice. “I haven’t said a word ‘cause all I know is you come to me when you need help with an injury, you’ve never told anyone anything.”
