Chapter Seven

Recap:

I smiled at him. His eyes were a golden- brown color. I finished dinner and we walked up the stairs hand in hand. We laid down next to each other and both fell asleep, leaning on each other.

Suddenly, I heard cars pull up. I ran to the window. It was the police. A woman emerged from one of the police cars. It was my mom.

(Another Script...... P is Phoenix, E is Echo, and Po is police)

E: Phoenix, wake up. The police are here!

He wouldn't budge. I started shaking him.

P: What!?!

E: The police are here! Get up quietly and pack a small bag while I keep watch. Then we'll switch.

He quickly packed a bag. We switched and I packed a few clothes and most important belongings. Again, I almost forgot Mr. Snuffles, who I planned to give to my future child, Destiny. I quickly grabbed him and shoved him in my bag. I ran over to the top of the stairs to see the commotion downstairs. I almost screamed when I looked over the banister. My father, along with River and Lyra, were handcuffed and being led to the police cars while my mom just stood there. As they were lead out the door, I saw an officer put a bag in my mom's hand. When she went to put the bag in her purse, I heard a jingling noise.

E: She betrayed us for money.

P: I never thought she would actually do such a thing.

E: Well, she did.

As we talked, we heard footsteps.

Po #1: I wonder if there is anyone upstairs.

Po #2: Well, check.

Po #1: That's what I'm doing, in case I haven't noticed.

He continued to walk up the stairs.

P: Where do we hide?

I looked around. I spotted the closet that led to the attic.

E: Quick, grab your bag and go into the closet that leads to the attic. Go as far back as possible. Hide behind clothes if there are any.

We headed into the closet and squeezed between clothes. Barely a moment later, the door squeaked open.

Po #1: I swear I just heard movement up hear.

Po #2: It's nothing. Let's go.

They retreated down the steps and shut the front door behind them. We emerged from the closet when we heard the cars pull away. We climbed out and sat down on the bed. Phoenix wrapped his arms around me and held me close as a few stray tears made their way down my face

P: It'll be ok.

E: No it won't.

I was sobbing at this point.

E: They took everyone but you. They took my dad, Lyra, and River. Not to mention my mom betraying us. All I have left is you.

P: Shh. It'll be ok.

E: No. Not to mention the baby. Another thing to worry about.

P: We'll get through it. Let's get out of here. I'll head downstairs and start gathering food.
