Amber made it to her seat just as the bell rang. Her clothes were wrinkled, and her hair was a wild frizzy mess, from tossing in her sleep. She got a couple odd looks, but not much else. She tried her best to focus, but her mind kept wandering back to the red door, and the creatures that attacked her. She shuttered at the thought of going back. She wasn’t sure she wanted to find out what was behind the other doors, especially if they were anything like the red one. She jumped when a pencil tapped her shoulder, causing her to knock over her book, which clattered to the floor. Silence fill the room as everyone turned to look at her, followed by whispers and snickers.
“Quite, while working.” The teacher barked, glaring at her.
“S-sorry,” she said picking up the fallen books. The pencil tapped her shoulder again and she turned to see Rocky smiling at her.
“Have a bad dream last night?” he asked, a smirk playing on his lips. She glared at him.
“Ttyl,” she hissed, and looked down at her work.
“Ok, but it better be in d-e-t-a-i-l” he whispered back. She rolled her eyes and continued to take notes
At lunch time she stared at her tray. The food looked almost prehistoric. Rocky slid up next to her with a grin, plastered on his face. She looked at him questioningly.
“What?”
“Details baby! Details!”
“Wow, you sound like a girl.” He just shrugged.
“I’m collecting data.” She asked looking him over.
“Why?”
“I don’t know. Mr. S. said its now part of my job. If I want to get my kicks and still sell, then I have to.”
“Hu…” she said, poking at her food.
“Soo…” he said leaning closer, as if she was the most interesting creature in the universe, “how was it? Sounded pretty bad; I mean… I could hear you screaming two apartments over.”
“What were you doing in my apartment building? Research?” Rocky smiled.
“Something like that,” he said wiggling his eyebrows, “I was dealing, and the payment was sweet.” Amber looked at him in discussed, and then turned to look round the room. No one was paying any attention to them, so she leaned closer to his head.
“Ok, so the circle rooms with all the doors…”
“Yeah?”
“You’re supposed to go through the small one, right?”
“Yeah… where are you going with this?”
“I went through the red door…”
“What?!”
“I said-“he cut me off
“I heard what you said,” he whisper-yelled. “What were you thinking?! I said the small door!!”
“I know but I was curious. Besides,” she shrugged, “now you have more for your research.” He paused mulling the thought over in his head.
“Ok… so how was it.”
“Awful. The worst place to ever go.” She shuttered remembering it.
“Go on” he urged. She continued to tell the story and all the while Rocky’s green eyes flashed, absorbing ever thing. After she finished, he rose suddenly.
“I have to go.”
“Wait,” she said grabbing his arm. “Do you have another pill?”
“I’ll get you one tonight. I’ll be over at the same time, as always. Leave a candle by the window when it’s safe.” he paused for a second. "Are you going to try the other doors?"
"Maybe..." she said looking down at her shoes.
"Ok, but becareful... and tell me everything afterwards."
"Gotcha" he gave her a weak smile and left.
Rocky looked over his shoulder to make sure Amber was out of site, before pulling out his phone. Ran three times before someone picked up.
“Hello?” replied a deep husky voice.
“I got some information for you, that I think you’ll enjoy.” He said into the phone with a smile.
