When Kimmber and Amber finally made it to the Shack was they were confused. A Big chain and padlock hung on the door. Panicking the girls darted away.
“Did the cops do another bust?” Whispered Kimmber.
“Duno…” The girls sat watching the door for aloud thirty minutes when they saw Trent and Mike walk up chatting. The got up from their hiding place and ran over to them.
“What happened,” huffed Kimmber.
“Was there a bust? Are the cops involved?” Asked Amber wide eyed. Mike shook his head and a sexy smile played on his lips. Trent had the same grin as they exchanged entertained looks. They looked back to the girls,
“We are doing renovations,” Mike said happily.
“Renovatioins?” Kimmber repeated, a bit confused.
“Yup. I told Mike he needed to make this place pop, and yet stay under the radar.” Trent said patting Mikes shoulder.
“Wow! Really?!” Amber asked wide-eyed. “Can I help?” she asked. Both the men and Kimmber gave her funny looks, and she blushed. “What? I like that kind of stuff…” she said looking down at the ground, and then looked back up switching her gaze between the two guys. “I’m good a painting! I could help out with that!” she said determined.
“She’s got a point,” Kimmber chuckled, “she’s really good at the artsy stuff.” Amber’s eyes held hope and determination, as she looked at the men.
“You don’t even have to pay me! I’ll do it for free!!” she said, hoping they would let her knowing they wouldn’t be paying extra for another worker. Mike chuckled,
“I can’t do that to you. Of course I’d pay you, and yes you can help,” Amber’s face beamed with joy. He turned to Kimmber.
“Nope, I’m all good, I already have a job thanks.” She smiled waving her hand as if literally waving the offer from his thoughts.
“All right,” he turned his attention back to Amber, “I’ll just put the money you make on your tab, and if you need cash right away ill just pull it off your tab, deal?”
“Yes! Yes! Deal! I promise I won’t let you down.” She said excitedly, Mike chuckled,
“I know you won’t. We are still cleaning it out, but we should be done by Friday around noon… So if you show up around one we should be done, and all the paint should be here.”
“I’ll have to skip class, but I will defiantly be here! I will!”
“Alright then, we have a painter.” Mike smiled down at her, “well I better get back and supervise. Don’t want to mess up anything or steal the merchandise.” He turned and headed to the back door. Trent stayed.
“So Amber I would like to talk to you…” her turned to Kimmber and smiled his sweetest smile, “alone please,” Kimmber looked to Amber, whose eyes pleaded her to stay. Kimmber bit her lip, she really didn’t want to leave Amber alone with him, but what could she do.
“Alright,” she finally said, “but I’m right over there if you need me,” she said pointing to the place she and Amber had been hiding earlier. She gave Amber an apologetic look then walked away.
“So, how have you been?” Trent asked trying to lighten the mood.
“I don’t think you wanted a privet chat just to talk about how my life is…” she said eyeing him suspiciously. He smiled and chuckled.
“Very well I’ll get strait to the point. Where is Sparrow? I sent my boys out to find him and so far they’ve come up with absolutely nothing.”
“Maybe they aren’t trying hard enough,” Amber shrugged. Trent narrowed his eyes down at her, and she suddenly felt very small.
“Don’t patronize me and my men.” He growled. “Tell me where this “Sparrow” is, or I will lose my temper.” Amber swallowed hard.
“I don’t know. He only dealed one time for me, and that was the last I saw of him. They switch out dealers like that sometimes…” she trailed off hoping he bought her half lie. Trent looked her over for a moment, then decided she was telling the truth.
“Alright, but the next time you see, call me right away. You still have the card I gave you?” Amber nodded, “Good.” He took her hand to his lips and kissed it. “I hope to talk to you again under better circumstances,” he said, his voice dripping with honey. Then he did a small bow like gesture and left. Kimmber ran over to her as soon as he started to walk away, she grabbed Ambers arm and spun her so they were face to face.
“What did he want?” her eyes full of concern for her friend.
“He was looking for Sparrow…”
“Did you tell him where he is?”
“No...”
“Do you know where he is?”
“Kind-a…”
“Kind-a? What do you mean kind-a? If you know where he is and Trent finds out you lied to him…” she said as she drew her thumb across her neck.
“I know. I know. But I’m not gunna be the snitch, and plus the guy is really nice. I just can’t do that to him.”
“What do you like him or something?”
“No! Like I said he is just nice, ok!?” Kimmber nodded, and headed to the bus stop.
