Sparrow arrived at the hospital just in time to see the cops drag away a drunk, screaming, and very angry Jimmy.
“She’s lying!” He shouted, “I didn’t touch that bitch! She’s lying! You can’t do this to me!” Sparrow stood in silence watching the scene unfold, as smirk slowly crept its way along his lips. Jimmy looked over to him and their eyes locked. Sparrow waved at him with a cruel smile. Jimmy screamed something at him but he didn’t hear because a cop had shoved his step dad’s head into the patrol car. Sparrow stayed out to watch the car drive off before he headed into the hospital. He strolled up the receptionist desk.
“Excuse me?” he asked a nurse. She looked up and smiled at him.
“You’re looking for your sister right?”
“Yes, I heard they moved her.”
“Yes, room 203, to your left.” The nurse pointed.
“Thanks” Sparrow smiled then headed off. He pushed open the door smiling, “Amber you’ll never guess what-“ The room was empty. Sparrow looked around, and noticed an open window. He walked up to it and looked out. Two girls were running down the street, one with brown hair and the other with auburn hair. Sparrow jumped out the window and followed after them.
Amber’s body was sore, since it hadn’t moved in a while. Kimmber held her hand, as she stumbled behind her.
“We have to go to my house to get my shit,” Amber panted.
“Yeah I know,” Kimmber said back. They ran passed people, cars, and buildings. Till they came to an abandoned apartment building complex. They stopped to catch their breath. “Wait here,” Kimmber said walking into the car lot. She strolled over to a beat up slugbug and slid in. a few moments, and the car started. She pulled out and drove up next to Amber. “Hop in,” she smiled. Amber smiled in surprise.
“I didn’t know you had a car,” Kimmber smiled evilly.
“I do now,” She winked. Amber hopped into the passenger side and the small car putted off.
Sparrow rounded the corner of an apartment building complex just in time to see Amber get into a slugbug and watched it drive off.
“Shit,” he hissed. He pulled out his phone and dialed Rocky.
“Hello?”
“Rock I need a ride,”
Kimmber turned up the radio as they drove down the road. The two girls bounced to the beat that blasted out of the bass. Soon they were at Ambers place. Kimmber pulled into the alley way. Amber hoped out quickly and clanked up the fire escape. She lifted up the window, and stepped through. She didn’t even take time to look around. She reached for her back pack and tossed it on her bed. Then she headed to her closet and pulled out a duffle bag, which was also tossed onto her bed.
She rummaged through her closet pulling out her clothes and shoving them in the bags. Next she went through her jewlrey, grabbed her phone, and a knife. As she was cramming all this into her back she did a quick sweep around to see if she missed anything. Her eyes landed on a little cared that was propped up on her bed side dresser. She paused, looking at it for a moment. She stopped packing and picked it up, underneath was a lovely blue capsule, she picked that up to and rolled it in between her thumb and fore finger. She turned her attention back to the card.
One more door Amber…
S.M.
Amber smiled and slipped the pill into her pocket, dropping the card, grabbed her back and ditched out the window and down the metal fire escape.
Rocky pulled up to Amber’s house. Sparrow opened the door and bolted into the building, up the stairs and down the hall. The tried the handle but it was locked. He took a step back and kicked the door down. He stepped in.
“Amber?” he called looking around the living room and glancing into the kitchen. “Amber?” he made his way to her room. His heart pounded as he turned the handle. Sparrow flung the door open and looked around. The room was empty and slightly trashed. As if someone had hurried to grab everything and get out. “Fuck!” He ran into the room and poked his head out the open window and looked down the alleyway. Nothing was out there. He pulled his head back into the room. His eyes caught a card laying on the floor. Slowly he picked it up and read it. “GOD, FUCKING! DAMN IT!” He ran back out of the apartment, back down the stairs, and dropped into the passenger seat of Rocky’s car. “Drive,” he ordered.
“Okay man,” Rocky huffed, “Where to?”
Amber stood next to Kimmber looking at the small room. Mike walked up behind them.
“It’s not much,” he sighed.
“It’s fine. This means a lot Mike,” Amber breathed. She looked up into his concerned face.
“Okay. If you need anything just hauler,”
“Got it,”
“Why couldn’t we go to my place?” Kimmber asked.
“Because Sparrow will look their after he finds out I’m not at the apartment. Plus the other drug dealers wouldn’t think of looking at Mikes place,” She smiled at Kimmber, reassuring her that the idea was the best. Kimmber smiled back nervously.
“FUCK!!!” screamed Sparrow kicking over a trash can.
“Dude what the hell is your problem?” Rocky yelled at him, “You’ve been freaking out ever since I picked you up,” Sparrow laughed sarcastically running his hand through his hair.
“You just don’t get it Rocky,”
“Get what?” Sparrow grabbed Rocky’s shoulders and shook him.
“They’re going to kill her Rock! They’re going to kill Amber!” Rocky’s eyes widened with horror.
“Oh fuck,” He breathed, “We… We got to find the girls!”
“No shit, Fuck brain!” Sparrow spat.
“Uh just think! Where is the next place they would go?” the two looked at each other.
“The Shack!”
