She watched as the blues darkened into black, and then she was in nothing. Darkness surrounded her. What the fuck is this path shit! She thought bitterly. Light washed over her from behind. She turned, holding up an arm to block the brightness of it. The light appeared to be in the shape of an open door.
“Got to follow the path hu?” Amber grumbled as she started to walk toward it. But as she neared, the door seemed to clothes slowly, and to her horror she realized that it was closing slowly! Her walk turned into a run, as she sprinted for the light. “NO! Don’t close it! I’m still in here!” but the door didn’t listen. Amber screamed as she reached the door just as it shut. She slammed into it and started to pound with her fist.
“OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR!” She screeched. “What about your whole talk on about ‘to stay on the path’?” she pounded on the door until she was exhausted. Tears filled her he’s and she pressed her back against the spot where the light had once been. She slid down it till her butt hit the ground. “It’s a dead world,” she whimpered quietly. “I can’t stay in a dead world. Please. PLEASE! Let me out. Please.” She kept repeating the word please over and over again, turning it into a hypnotic chant. “Peter please,”
“Peter isn’t here anymore,” Ambers spine pricked at the voice. She turned her head this way and that but couldn’t see anything in the thick blackness.
“Who’s there!” she called, “What do you want!”
“What do I want?” asked the voice. By the way it sounded she guessed it was a man. “Why Amber. I want you,” his voice oozed sweetness, “I’ve always wanted you. You’re going to be the one to set me free.”
“Set you free?” Amber asked weakly.
“Yes, oh yes! You see…” he said, “They want to keep you away from me. They pull you out of dead worlds so you can’t meet me. But I found my way past dead worlds, to dying worlds. We have met before.” Suddenly the whole place lit up. Amber cried out and covered her eyes. When she opened them again she saw that she was in a room, fill with all different kinds of purple hues. And there, standing a few feet away was a man with fine blonde hair that covered his right eye, but let his left eye in full view. It swirled with a sick, toxic purple, and a charming yet cruel smile played on his lips. Amber new instantly who he was.
“You!” She shouted, standing to her feet as fast as she could, “You were in the Green world! You tried to rape me!” he smiled weakly.
“I really do wish we could have met on better terms. I promise I won’t hurt you, just hear me out.” Amber glared at him.
“Why?!?! WHY SHOULD I LISTEN TO A SICK FUCK LIKE YOU!” She hissed. He sighed and closed his eyes, then looked straight into hers.
“Because I can tell you about the path you are on.” Amber felt as if she had lost her voice, but she still looked at him leery. “First let me introduce myself. The name is Emit. I’ll be twenty two next month, and I used to be a druggy. Just like you.” He smiled as he said the last part.
“How do you know I’m a junkie?” She asked defiantly. He chuckled.
“Well for one, you are taking SAND right now or you wouldn’t be here. Second….” He paused and glanced down at her arms, “your arms are covered in needle marks love.” Amber suddenly felt ashamed and embarrassed, she dropped her head.
“Oh don’t worry. I’m not judging. Got to find a way to kill pain of life, no?” Amber looked back up into his face. She would have found him quite attractive, if he hadn’t tried to take advantage of her in the Green world. “Anyway. Like I said I was a druggy just like you.”
“But your just a dream,” Amber said. And then said doubtingly, “right…?” Emit smiled.
“That,” he paused, and gave her a devilish grin “is where you are wrong? Amber. I am actually a real human stuck in a coma. This…..’dead world’ that we are now is my dream inside my head,” he taped his index finger on his temple.
“I’m in…your dream?” instantly the thought of Dalton came to her mind, “he said the same thing…” she breathed.
“Beg pardon?” Emit asked looking at her confused.
“Do you know someone named Dalton?” Amber asked. Instantly Emit’s eyes clouded over. His face turned into a scowl.
“You have met Dalton? What did he tell you?”
“He said the same thing as you. That I was in his dream.”
“Listen to me Dalton is—“ Emit couldn’t finish his sentence, because the roof in between them crashed down. Amber yelped in surprise. As the dust cleared a man stood up from the rubble. It was Peter. Emit gave him an evil smile.
“Well hello Doctor Peter. How is the experiment going?” Peter glared at him. Emit responded with a sigh, “I know I wasn’t your favorite lab rat, but come on we have some pretty good history together.”
“You’re not gunna fuck this up Emit. The Doctor has worked too hard on this!”
“You mean, the Sand Man, right,” Amber’s eyes bounced from Emit to Peter back to Emit. What the fuck is going on! She thought.
“OUCH!” she screamed suddenly as she felt as if a needle had just been shoved into her arm. She looked down and saw a prick of blood. “What the?”
“Shit!” hissed Emit, and he lunged at her. Amber’s eyes went wide and she looked around the room for a weapon. Peter stepped in front of her and punched Emit in the face making fall onto his back.
“You won’t take her from me! Her brain is mine!” Emit shouted.
“What? What do you want with my brain?!?” Amber asked. Slowly the pain in her arm was beginning to creep all over her body. A dull prickly feeling, but it soon felt like it was digging into her very muscles.
“Shut up Emit!” Peter shouted. Ambers head spun. She closed her eyes and held her head.
“Fuck N-“ that was the last she heard from Emit.
