Amber saw the prince, he smiled at her, and then she realized,
“Your brother is the prince?!” Cherry giggled, and kept tugging her along. Soon she stood face to face with prince Clovis. “Y-your highness…” she stuttered, giving a clumsy curtsy. She stared at her his mouth slightly open, as he looked at her hair in awe; his finger reached out to push a curl behind her head, but I cleared throat made him stop and lower his arm. His bride to bee stood right next to him, and he could feel the anger radiating from her.
“I see the guest of honor has finally decided to arrive an hour late.” She said in a dry tone. Amber stood sheepishly.
“It took a while to find a dress…” she said quietly. The prince ignored his brides irritating outburst.
“We are just glad you could make it,” he smiled warmly and her, and saw her cheeks turn to a soft shade of pink, and she lowered her lashes. A mellow song started to play and he bowed deeply at Amber. “It would be an honor to be able to dance with you, Miss Amber.” He said holding out his hand. Amber bit her lip for a moment, and Cherry nudged her lightly. His touch was warm, as he led her to the dance floor. Her eyes filled with panic.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
“I don’t know how to dance,” she replied, her eyes full of terror. He laughed out loud.
“But I have seen you dance. And you were magnificent.”
“That was different,” she blushed looking at their feet. “It was freedom, it was movement.. It wasn’t a dance… it was.. It was…”
“It was pure randomness, and emotion, leading you?” he finished with a smile. Her eyes relaxed, and she smiled back.
“Yeah…it was…”
“Well, all you have to do is follow my lead. And if you haven’t noticed you are doing just fine.” Amber looked up and saw that they were in fact dancing. He pulled her waist and she followed, he lightly pushed her arm and she stepped back. The music swirled all around them, and everything else disappeared. They only heard the music, and only saw each other. Clovis felt his heart would burst from his cage, the way Amber stared at him with admiration. He felt his face grow hot; he wanted so badly to stare into her eyes forever. His eyes fell to her lips, a soft pink, which looked so inviting. Before he knew what he was doing he leaned in close to her ear.
“May I steal this kiss?” he asked.
“wa-What?” Amber’s eyes swam with love, fear, passion, and confusion. But before she could reply his lips were on hers. They were warm and smooth; Amber’s heart picked up speed, and hammered in her chest. He pulled her closer to him with the hand on her back, and her navel pressed against something hot, and hard. Her body tingled, and felt warm, and everything was absolutely perfect for the moment.
From behind them came such a screech of pure rage that they parted so suddenly and turned around. Clovis’ bride stood, her veil thrown back, and her face twisted in a rage of absolute hatred. Her black eyes burned into Amber’s. Amber shivered in fear pulling closer to Clovis who held her tight.
“Seductress. Harlot. Slut. How dare you steal the prince’s love from me. Me!?! His bride!! He only loves me, his bed will be him! Get your hands off of him you filthy whore.” She screeched with rage and ran at Amber, her arms out stretched to ring her white neck. Clovis stepped in front of her stopping her dead in her tracks.
“Clovis! Don’t tell me you’ll let this… this… heathen steal a kiss from you?”
“She did not steal the kiss, I did.” He glared down at his bride with such furry that she shrunk back a bit. “I am sick of you Veronica. SICK. I’m sick of how high and mighty you are, how everyone is beneath you, how you think people were put on this earth just to please ‘YOU’” he pointed an excusing finger in her face. The whole room was silent. Veronica looked around as saw all eyes on them, and all eyes were full of hate for her. Anger bubbled up in sider her. She would not be made a fool of.
“You will regret this Clovis! And YOU!” she screamed at Amber who flinched in fear. Then she turned and stormed out of the castle. You will pay for this Clovis. She thought bitterly to herself. You WILL PAY!
Clovis sighed tiredly then looked back to Amber, and to his horror he saw tears falling from her eyes. He ran over to her and embraced her tightly kissing the top of her head lightly.
“I am so sorry.” She sobbed, “It’s all my fault. She was your bride, and I’m.. *hiccup* I’m”
“The one I love,” he said softly stroking her hair. “I didn’t love Veronica. She has never sent my heart into frenzy like you have. I only want you by side… forever.” He pulled away and looked at the beautiful young girl in his arms. “Amber,” he said softly, as he bent down to one knee. “Will you please be my bride, and marry me?” the room buzzed with whispers, and then it became silent waiting for her answer. More tears rolled down her eyes, and Clovis began to worry if this was too soon, but her lips lifted into a smile, and she nodded. His eyes smiled and he jumped to his feet hugging her close.
The whole room cheered and stated to change ‘long live Price Clovis, long live Princess Amber’. Clovis was so happy he couldn’t contain himself; he bent down and kissed her again. The crowd roared even louder. Only one person didn’t shout or cheer. He stood at the back in a dark cape, his mouth twisted into a frown and he dropped the glass he was drinking from. It fell and shattered to a billion pieces on the floor.
“Your fate has been sealed Miss Amber,’ then turned and left the palace.
