A Day in the Park

Chapter 11

You finally walk out and notice that the guys are back in the room. They were all playing with Chloe. Harry is sitting on the floor with Chloe in his lap. Liam is playing with Chloe’s toys. Louis making jokes while Niall is laughing at him. And Zayn; well he was by the window not looking at anything in particular just staring out. No one noticed that you walked out of the bathroom; so you walk quietly behind Liam and start to get down on your knees behind him to hug him before Louis looks at you and says “I am so sorry about that Kenzie.” Which made you smile but you looked at Liam and he watched you finally kneel behind him and hug him. “It’s okay. I’m just glad you didn’t come in any later than you did.” You say with a mischievous look in your eyes looking at Liam.  “Is that so?” Harry says with a look of disbelief. “Well you will never know; now will you huh?” You say giggling, trying to lighten up the room before you go to your meeting in ten minutes. You’re a little nervous. Niall sees you looking at Liam with love and says “If this is meant to be they will see that in you, Kenzie.” You look at him surprised; you were so careful with not showing emotion that it scared you that he could see right through you.

It was time; the boys had walked you down to where the meeting was going to be. They were going to be right outside so when they wanted to meet Chloe; you wouldn’t have to go far. Everyone gives you their good lucks and walks down the hall to give you and Liam some time before you go in. “You will do great Kenzie. Just be yourself like the day that we met.” “Thanks Liam.” He kisses you on the forehead and pushes you to the door a little.  You walk into the room. There are a lot of people in there.

You weren’t expecting that many people; so you froze in mid step. You couldn’t do anything but watch what they were doing. None of them looked up until you made a little noise that sounded like a mixture of a scream and trying to clear your throat. You hadn’t realized that you had said something let alone moved. They motioned for you to sit down. You sat in front of them, nervous oh so nervous. “Hello Kenzie, This is One Direction’s management…” Someone was saying and naming off everyone. You couldn’t really hear what they were saying over your heart beating so fast and loud. After she was done naming everyone off you said “Hello everyone.” You smile a little trying to show that you aren’t as nervous as you were. “You are here today to tell us why you think you should be dating Liam.” One of them said. “Well this isn’t really about me dating Liam is it? You do not want Liam to be with a person that is taking care of a little girl.” You retort. “I am here to tell you my story.” You finish and look at each and every one of them. Most had shocked faces on and some were angry that you had worded it like that, but you didn’t really care. “To be honest, it’s not even about the little girl. It’s more about what you do for a living.” You were astonished by what he said. “I am a social worker. I work for a homeless shelter. How is that even a problem?” You question with your voice rising with each word. “You well be seen with many men.” One says and another says “It will not work with the image that we are trying to make for the boys.” “So you are telling me that because I will be seen with clients that I will be considered a cheater or an unholy match for the image you want for the guys?” You were standing and yelling by now.

You can hear a knock on the door. No one says anything so the person who was knocking came in. You looked over and saw Liam; he wasn’t happy. “Are you kidding me? Kenzie is the most honest and respectful person on this earth. So what if she is a social worker.” He trails off and by now the other guys walk in as well listening to the yelling. Chloe sees you and runs to you. Once Chloe was in your arms she starts to whip the tears away; that you didn’t notice were there. By now Liam is by your side and the last thing he tells management is “I will date anyone I want; and I want Kenzie.” To me he says “Let’s go.” You walk with Liam’s hand on your back. You walk right past the guys and down to the street. He guides you to the car and drives to your house.

Once at your house you all just sit in the car in silence. “I’m sorry” you both say in unison after a while. “What are you sorry about Kenzie? You didn’t do anything wrong. They were being jerks and weren’t going to give you a chance even if you hadn’t gone in there.” Liam said. “I know Liam but if this would have never happened or if I wasn’t in the job I was in” you trail off. “Kenzie this has nothing to do with you. I love that you have a passion to help others.” Liam says. “Thanks Liam. We should go in and start making dinner. Do you want to stay?” You ask Liam while looking at Chloe in the back seat asleep. “That would be great. I don’t think I can face the guys or management right now.” Liam answers you. You get out and walk to the door while Liam picks Chloe up. Once the door is open Liam takes Chloe start upstairs to her room.

 When Liam comes down you ask “What would you like for dinner?” “What do you have?” "Well I like to keep the fridge, freezer, and pantry stocked so I can make anything.” You tell Liam. “I don’t really care.” Liam answers after a while. “Well if I don’t use up these peapods they are going to go bad so I can make my Tai peanut beef and peapods stir fry if that is ok with you?” You ask Liam. “That sounds great and hard do you need any help?” “No it is very easy and won’t take too long to cook; so you go and watch TV.” You tell Liam. While cooking dinner you hear a knock at the door. “Liam will you get that?” You ask.
