A Day in the Park

Chapter 16

While waking up to a soft knock at the door you look at the clock and groan. The person at the door knocks again. “Come in” you say quietly to not wake up Chloe. Thinking it was your mother coming in to tell you supper was ready you were surprised to see Liam opening the door. You sat up quickly and covered your body forgetting you only had your underwear on that your mother had found and his shirt. “Liam what are you doing here? How did you know I was here?” You asked while Liam is chuckling at you. He walks over to your side of the bed and takes your hand. You pull your hand back at first not wanting to get up, but he takes your hand again to pull you up off the bed. You let him lead you to the bathroom that is off of your room.

 Once in the bathroom he closes the door and you release his hand and goes to the other side of the bathroom farthest away from Liam. “What are you doing here, and how did you know I was here?” You question again. He turns around and looks at where you are standing and frowns. You look away from him knowing that it would only lead to you walking over to him and hugging him. He starts to walk towards you but he stops when he noticed that you flinched when you heard his footsteps. He stays where he is but starts to answer you. “I came to see what that’ motioning to where we are at now. ‘was all about? Your mother called me on your phone. I answered thinking it was you and was worried sick. Kenzie what happened?” When he was done speaking you looked up and noticed he was crying. You couldn’t take it any longer. You ran to him and jumped into his arms. “I’m sorry Liam. I’m so sorry.” You say and kissed him. You two stayed that way for a while until Liam walked over to the sink and sat you down on the sink and pulled away. “I’m sorry” You say again and looked away from him. “Kenzie I need to know. Why did you run?” He pulled your chin up so you would look at him. “I-I couldn’t take your guys pity anymore.” You say and tug your head away but Liam tightens his grip before you could. “It’s not pity when someone really cares for you Kenzie.” He says and you look at him shocked. “Why?” you ask. “Why, what Kenzie?” “Why do you and the guys care for me and Chloe? You don’t know us all that well. If it was any other man Liam; he would be half way to Brazil by now.” Tears were at the rims of your eyes wanting to seep over but you pushed them back. “Like I said the other day, you have filled up a whole in my heart that I didn’t even know was missing. You are a part of me if you like it or not, but Kenzie;” He reached up and wiped away the tears that were falling down your check. “I will never give up on you.” You looked at him zealously. You didn’t want to admit to it but you loved this man in front of you. You knew it wasn’t possible to love someone that you didn’t know but you knew that God will put anyone in your life that he wants and in any way he wants. You felt like this man in front of you is that man whom God has put in your life for a reason; and that reason is to love you and you to love him back. The next thing that you knew you were leaning into him and kissing him and not letting go. You were scared that he would find out these feelings that you have for him but you don’t want to and couldn’t let him go either.

You were kissing him for a good fifteen minutes until someone opened the door. You looked up and saw that it was your father. You blushed and got down from the counter. “Hi daddy.” You say and walk past him with a smile on your face turning around to wink at Liam knowing he’s going to get a talking by my father later. He looks at you like a lost puppy and you mouthed ‘everything will be fine’. You walked back into the room and grabbed your clothes, thankfully when your mother found your undies she found a bra that you had left one time you worked too late. You got dressed when Liam and your father went and headed down stairs. You were still in Liam’s sweats and t-shirt but you have underwear on which made you feel better when walking around people. You hadn’t notice that Chloe wasn’t in bed until you were about to wake her for dinner. You head down stairs looking for Chloe but instead you find all the boys in the living room talking to my mother and Chloe while Liam in the kitchen with my father. “Hi boys.” You say to the guys when walking into the room. Looking at your mother you say “So I hear you are the one that called Liam and told him were I was.” It wasn’t a question but your mother answered anyways. “Well if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have any more grandchildren.” She chuckles and so do the guys. “And who said I was having any children mother?” You ask but before your mother could answer Liam comes but behind you saying “Why wouldn’t we have children in the future?” You looked behind you at him and blushed. “Have a nice chat with my father?” You ask trying to step away from the topic. “Yeah it was ok. Someone told him that he might want to check on us to make sure nothing was happening.” He said while looking at Louis. You looked at him and he defended himself. “All I said was that the last time was a little too late when we walked in; and he got a little upset and walked up to your room.”

When he started to when he finished, you were staring at Louis. He was starting to get worried so he asked “What?” “You know what, nothing. I’m going to go eat now.” You walk off; hand in hand with Liam, to the kitchen. You let go of Liam’s hand once you were at the stove to take out three plates to fill them up with food. Chloe comes running in after you and Liam; and Liam picks her up. “Are you hungry Chloe?” Liam asks her and she has a smile on her face and shaking her head up and down. You fill the plates with food and heading over to the table when your mother comes in saying “Be a nice friend and plate the boys some food.” “You do know that I am not a teenager any more right mother?” You ask laughing and getting up to plate the boys and your parents some food. The boys come into the kitchen when you yell for them to come eat. Of course Niall was the first one in saying that he was hungry when they first showed up and he’s starving. “So you missed you meeting with the management Kenzie.” Zayn says when you all sit down at the table, and you look at your plate of food that is in front of you. “All we have to do is call them and reschedule it for another time.” Niall says. You give him a small smile still not looking at anyone. Liam takes your hand in his and rubes his thumb across your knuckles. You look over at him and he has a sorrowful but reassuring look that makes you have hope.

You look at your mother who doesn’t understand what is going on. You nudge Liam in the side for him to look at your mother because you aren’t able to explain what is happening. He gives you a weird look then look to where you are looking at and he tries to think of something. “Management..” He trails off still not sure what to say. “Kenzie had a meeting with management and basically they didn’t like her for her job.” He stops to still think of the best way to say thing but before he could your father open his mouth with “What in the hell does that mean? Kenzie can’t fucking date you because she works at a homeless shelter. That is one of the humblest things that anyone on this shit of a planet could do.” You look at him and then notice that every single one of the boys is staring at your father with their mouths wide open. You giggle to yourself thinking maybe I should have told them that he has a mouth on him when someone gets him going. Your mother notices also and calms your father down. You speak up with “It was more than that daddy. They didn’t like that fact that Chloe wasn’t mine and that Liam will be seen taking care of someone’s little girl and having their” gesturing to the boys “fans will think that Liam has a child that no one knew about.” You finish not looking at anyone but Chloe and Liam takes your hand. “You never told us that Liam.” Louis says. “That’s because I never knew. I only heard the part about Kenzie job.” Liam says only looking at you. “I couldn’t tell you Liam. It would have upset you more and it’s not like they weren’t wrong. Chloe isn’t mine; I didn’t give birth to her, but most of all she also isn’t yours.” Everyone is looking at the two of you and your father breaks the silence with “If you asked my permission to marry her right now there would not be a doubt in my mine to say no.” Both of you look at him with rapturous stupefied. Everyone was just staring at him. Even your mother even though she was thinking it; although she wasn’t stupefied, she was just so surprised your father had said it out loud.
