A Day in the Park

Chapter 18

The future looked like heaven. It was everything that you had wished for. Until you saw three people, you couldn’t tell who they were. They turned around, and you could finally place them. Standing there was your mother, father, and sister. You ran up to them and hugged them. “I missed you guys so much!” you said. They hugged you back tightly saying “We have missed you too.” You have started crying now. “Shhhh baby girl. Why are you crying?” Your father asks. “I’ve just needed you guys so much and now with everything going on, you won’t be able to meet the special people in my life.” “Baby why do you think we are here?” Your mother asks. “I don’t know. It’s just a dream.” You speak out loud. “It is but you know better than that Pancakes.” Your sister said.

You think about what is going on.  It’s just a dream, what more could a dream mean? You think. “It means everything.” Your mother says. You look behind you and see everyone there. Liam looks into your eyes but looks down at your belly and smiles. You look down and notice you are pregnant. You look happy but scared at the same time. “I don’t know if I’m ready to have a child of my own.” “Pancakes, you have been a mother to me since mom and dad died. You took in Chloe and you have raised her the way that I would have never been able to. You are a great mother.” Your sister tells you. “What am I to do? I miss you guys so much.” “Baby girl, everything will work out. I know you don’t remember but the night that guy attacked you in the parking lot; your mother and I were there protecting you.” “We have been beside you, every step of your life.”

While your parents were talking you were looking at your belly but when your mother told you they were there every step of the way, you looked up. “Then why did you let all this stuff happen to me? Shiloh, the baby, Kendal? Why would you let that happen and not other things? I was raped twice, and you tell me you were there with me? Why didn’t you do anything?” you were screaming and yelling at them. You were screaming and thrashing around on the bed waking everyone up in the house. “You know we couldn’t do anything to stop that Kenzie.” Your mother says. “Baby girl, you need to know something before we go. You won’t have this life for much longer. Live your life before it’s too late.” Your father tells you.

Everyone was on the bed in your room. “Nooooo.” You yell. “Kenzie, Kenzie wake up.” Liam is yelling at you. “Noooo, you can’t go, not yet. Mom, Dad, Kayla don’t go!” You yell but they can’t hear you anymore. Everyone has stepped back away from the bed hearing you say those names. When you are finally awake you noticed that everyone has stepped away from the bed.

“K-Kenzie w-what w-was t-that a-about?” Liam asks not able to get the sentence out. “They were there. They told me that they are here with me. They t-told me” Looking at Liam “I will have a family with you.” Looking from Liam to your parents “They told me I wouldn’t live m-much longer” You started crying again. “Who told you this Kenzie?” Your dad asked although he knew the answer. “My biological parents and Kayla.” You have stopped crying, but you couldn’t look at anyone. “We’re going to have a family?” Liam says with a smile on his beautiful face. “I was pregnant in my dream. I could feel two heart beats.” You said smiling at him. Liam sits on the bed facing you and starts kissing you.

Someone clears their throat and it makes you two stop. “What do you mean you aren’t going to live for much longer?” Your mother says in a small voice; you look up at her and she is crying. “My father didn’t give me anything else expect to live my life before it’s too late.” You were looking at Liam by the end of your sentence. You finally saw what you had hoped for in his eyes, jubilant. You finally accepted it because that same look in Liam’s eyes is in yours as well.

“I think that Kenzie needs to get some sleep now.” Liam says. “We will keep Chloe in our room for tonight.” Your mother and father said. You forgot that she was even in the room, she was so quite. Your mother and father take Chloe out of the room. The boys are last to go. Every single one of them looked scared but happy that they have finally saw that look in both yours and Liam’s eyes. They gave you a hug before leaving, but Niall was the last to leave. He couldn’t bring himself to leave the two of you. You couldn’t quite understand why he has made the point to be your best friend but was glad he did.

 You got up and walked across the room to hug him. While hugging you he picked you up to make it more intimate. “I will be fine Niall” You say giggling at his actions. He kissed the top of your head once he let your feet touch the ground. “Don’t scare anyone like this again.” He says with a serious tone. “It’s not of my doing Niall. If God wants me, he will take me any way and any time he wants.” He looks at you with such bleakness. This look scared you a little, you have never seen this look before but knew it so well. “You know I wouldn’t go if I had the choice, right?” You asked Niall.  “I wish I could understand your thinking Kenzie.” He says while giving you a kiss on the check and leaving the room.

You turned to Liam who has been sitting on the bed watching everything that just happened. “Liam, what was that all about?” You ask him pointing to the door that Niall just walked out of. Liam motions for you to come over to him and you do. “I think he has feelings for you, Kenzie.” You just shake your head because it is not possible for him to like you. It is hardly believable to think that Liam does. You look back up at Liam and he is shaking his head yes. “That is not possible Liam. He shouldn’t like me, I’m not that interesting. I don’t even know why you like me.” You say looking down, not able to meet his eyes. “Do we need a reason, Kenzie? There is something about you that just attracts us. I am not talking about your looks or features, although you are very gorgeous.” He tells you lifting your head up to him so your eyes can meet. “Liam” you say but are stopped by Liam’s lips on yours. This kiss was passionate and slow. It was everything you wished would happen to you.

You pull away knowing where this kiss could lead. “So we are going to have children? I thought you didn’t want any?” Liam says “To be honest I don’t know if I am ready to have children, but in the dream I was happy, we were happy.” You say looking up at him. “I can’t wait to get started trying.” Liam says and it makes you giggle. “There is that laugh that I love.” He says kissing you again. You pull away to look at the time. “Liam it’s 3 in the morning. We should get some sleep.” You tell him while his head is kissing your neck. He whines a little before pulling away from you. “Okay okay. But I will not let this conversation die.” He says making you giggle again. You lay down with Liam right behind you; spooning you. “I think I’m in love with you.” You whisper to Liam; thinking he is asleep.
