Chapter Fourteen

***

I came in late for class that day. Arriving during lunch wasn't my go-to schedule so I was feeling nauseous and tired but I sucked it up. I came in straight to the cafeteria, got my food and looked for Jack. He was sitting at the usual table and I came up.

"Hey... " Jack said as he slurped in water. The shine on his hair implied that he was doing something straining, grease or sweat?

"Any news about the missing students?" I ask.

"No, not yet. We should ask a few of them. Our plan did not go so well last time." He replies as I sit down in front of him. I could see Kristen a few steps away from Jack, she was coming here and I thought maybe, she could help us. I ought and gestured her to come to the table. She was enthusiastically clicking with her one-inch heeled leather shoes.

"Hey Kristen!" I lively greet her as she took a seat beside me. She had a red tray full of food, mostly bread. "Hey guys! And hey Rose, you missed morning classes. What's up?" Kristen replied and clanged her utensils.

"I just had to go pick up something..." I reply and trace the side of the bowl of soup I had in front of me, "Listen, we need some help."

"Involving Supers?!" Kristen exclaimed which made a few students around us look over, but then look back not knowing who we were.

Jack snickered and stabbed a piece of meat on his plate with his fork then said, "Yes, but keep it down will you?" Kristen was nodding while smiling with a smile that looked like it would tear her cheeks. She has a big thing for Supers, but she hasn't fleshed it out too much yet.

"Why haven't you guys said anything? After what happened to Jet Black... Is it involving him?" She asked.

"Well, sort of. He's in captivity at the moment and not much of a threat but someone else is. And it also involves some freshmen." I say and Kristen curiously looks back and forth between Jack and I.

"I think I might know the people who can help, or more over, Supers..."

I raise my eyebrow and look Kristen in the eyes, does she actually have some sides? I have not really been conversing with her that I haven't dug deep in her life. But if she does have some help that can be trusted, then that's all that matters. The thing we need to do right now is to find Sarah because she is not with Jet Black and Jack says he doesn't remember anything. I still despise him yet I can't turn against him right now. I shouldn't ignore what Tom said to me.

"Supers?..." I say.

"They're called Alchemy and Bibia, good friends of mine. Well, we only know each other because of my dad who works in the government."

My eyes brighten and I quickly turn to Kristen, "Are you sure you can provide help?" I then review what I had just said, I was gonna drag Kristen into this mess. But as long as she doesn't get hurt, then maybe...

"You've heard about the missing freshmen right?" I ask her.

She looked at me, uneasy and said, "Yes, actually. My brother is a freshmen and I haven't see him since last week. The last thing he told me one night was that he had a gig going on in a club called Phoenix Heat-"

"That's a clue!" Jack suddenly blurted out. I nod and look down on my food.

"And you haven't went looking? Do you have contact with you parents?" I further ask Kristen.

Her smile vanished at an instant and she said, "Our parents are always... highly medicated and doing..." She traced.

"Doing what?" Jack asks with food in his mouth.
