Valerie woke up with a start, and tried to remember what had gone on the night before. She sat up suddenly, and then rubbed her head. Taking in her surroundings, she noted the many empty bottles around her. She stood up slowly, her head banging. She shuffled to the kitchen, pouring a glass of water at the tap. She heard a thump from upstairs, and recalled Liam being here the night before. She sighed and trudged towards the stairs.
Upstairs, Hayden rolled over and tried to escape Liam. He rolled after her, and carried on tickling her. "STOP! Liam- please!" Hayden couldn't stop laughing, and eventually she fell off of her bed, pulling the sheets with her. Liam looked at her lovingly, and she glared at him. He laughed, and she stood up, and was about to fly at him, when she heard a knock on her door. "Hayden? You ok?" Hayden's eyes grew, and Liam jumped up in terror. Hayden put a finger to her lips. "Val? What-what time is it?" Hayden threw Liam's clothes at him, and chucked a t-shirt and shorts on. Liam pulled on his clothes, but when he barely had his jeans on, Hayden chucked her window open and dragged Liam out of it. Before he jumped down to her back yard, she quickly kissed him and then shut the window. She jumped into bed, just as Val knocked again. "Yeah? Sorry, I fell asleep again... " Valerie came in to the room, and seemed relieved to find Hayden fully clothed and in bed by herself. She walked over to Hayden's bed and pushed her little sister's hair out of her eyes. "Did Liam go home by himself last night?" Hayden nodded and climbed out of bed. "He walked home about 1ish. He doesn't live far." Valerie nodded. "Do you want to do something today? Lunch and a movie?" Hayden thought about it. As much as she wanted to see Liam, she wanted to spend time with her sister too. Hayden turned to look at Valerie. "Yeah, sure. I'd love that." Valerie's face lit up, and she smiled warmly at Hayden. "I'll only keep you till three. Then you can go see Liam?" Now it was Hayden's turn to light up. "Definitely, sounds like a plan! " Valerie suddenly looked sheepish. "Hayden? Do you-Do you mind driving? I had quite a lot to drink last night..." Hayden laughed. "Sure. Give me 20 minutes to get ready, ok?" Val nodded and headed out the door. "Oh, and Hayden? I'm choosing the movie!" Hayden turned to get ready, giggling at her big sister. It felt good to laugh like that again, and it felt good to be spending time with her again.

"That was so good! I loved the time that he fell down the stairs and-" "OMG yes I loved that bit too! And he fell into her and she rolled down-" The Romero girls laughed and walked out of the cinema. Hayden was still carrying nearly a full bucket of popcorn, as they had both over-estimated their appetites, and had bought way too much. Hayden looked around for the car, while Valerie checked her phone. "Be home by ten, okay?" Hayden looked confused. "I said you could go hang out with Liam? I'll get the bus home." Hayden rolled her eyes. "Val, I'm taking you home. Get in the car. " Valerie smiled at Hayden and looked around. "Where is the car?" Hayden switched her eyes, searching the number plates. She nearly looked at Valerie, until she remembered that she didn't know. Hayden found the car, and then buried her face in her arm until her eyes stopped glowing. She then walked in the direction of the car while Valerie ran after her. Hayden's face was sad, closed off. Valerie didn't notice however, and simply climbed into the passenger seat.

Hayden pulled up outside her house, and turned the key in the ignition. Valerie opened the door and got out. Before closing the door, she turned and looked at Hayden. "Hey, be safe tonight, ok?" Hayden tuned in to typical teenager mode. "Eeeew! Valerie that's disgusting." Valerie shut her eyes and sighed. "I meant in the dark, but now I'm debating whether or not I should let you go..." Hayden's smile disappeared. "No! I mean, please?" Val shook her head and rolled her eyes. "Go. Before I change my mind. Love you!" And with that, she shut the door and sauntered up the drive. Hayden watched her go into the house before driving off. She sighed and drove to Scott's house. What she needed to do required Scott more than Liam.
Pulling up outside, Hayden shut off the engine. She climbed out of the car, and was reassured when she saw Scott's bike parked in the driveway. She went up to the door and rang the doorbell. She wrapped her arms round her chest, it was cold. She heard someone come to the door, and she smiled expectantly. Scott came to the door. Hayden's face fell as she saw his red eyes, and his gruff voice as he said hello. "Hey, I was just, um..." Hayden smiled sympathetically. "It's ok. I miss her too. " She didn't know if it was Kira or Allison, but she sympathized either way. She followed Scott up to his room, and sat on his bed. "You know it's okay to cry, right?" She put a hand on Scott's arm. He looked at his feet, not looking at her. She smiled sympathetically. "If I lost Liam, I'd- I don't even know. I'd never be able to stay as strong as you are. I'd fall apart. You might be inside, but you've been here to support Liam and I, and Stiles, and Lydia. You've put your feelings to the back of your mind for so long now, you deserve some time to let it out. I know what it's like to lose the people you love most. I didn't lose the love of my life, I lost my parents. I still have my first love. My true love. I still have him. But you, Scott. You chose to look after us. And now it's our turn to look after you." Scott listened to Hayden, and turned to her, eyes streaming. His eyes were dark, and something lurked in them. He was so deeply broken, Hayden wasn't sure if she'd be able to fix him. "Scott. Look at me. You need to let it all out. Everyday, you watch Liam and I be so happy, in love. Do you know how hard it is to be in love, when all we're doing is hurting our family? It's excruciating." Scott nodded, and put a hand on her shoulder. He knew. She hugged him, and felt him sob into her shoulder. "Shhh. It's okay Scott. It' okay."
