Hayden groaned. Even though she knew what was going on, she still hated seeing her with him. Together. Ugh. She shuddered as she thought about them. She walked over to her locker, needing to pick up the books for her next class. She puts n her combination (which happened to be Liam's birthday) and got her books for Bio. She shut her locker and jumped when she saw someone standing behind it. "Jesus. Hey James, what's up?" She locked her locker again and began to walk away slowly. He followed her. "Nothing much, was just wondering how you're holding up." Hayden rolled her eyes. Ever since Liam publicly dumped her, everyone had quickly changed sides. The jocks all liked Liam, and Hayden had had a hard time keeping the girls soccer team off him. He had announced his relationship with Sophie Evans last week, and now he walked the halls with his arm draped over her shoulder casually. Liam was walking toward's her just know actually, in that pose. He looked her in the eye, and she stared back, lingering for a second. James caught up with Hayden, and thrust his hands in his pockets. "So, um, Hayden... I was wondering... Would you like to, uh, I don't know... Go out with me sometime?" James jumped up and down on the balls of his feet nervously. Hayden smiled. She liked James, he was a sweet guy. But he was also on the lacrosse team. And that could be a problem. She closed her eyes. "Look, James you're a really good guy, and I really like you, but-" At that moment she caught a glimpse of Liam and Sophie at his locker. He had his arm on the locker behind her, and he was staring at her in a sickening fashion. Hayden gulped. "You know what? I'd love to go out with you sometime James. Text me to make plans?" James nodded eagerly and strolled off, trying to play cool. But Hayden saw him high five his friends and smile widely when he reached them. Hayden smiled and shook her head softly, allowing her dark chocolate curls to cover her face. She gasped when she felt herself being dragged to the side. Suddenly, it was all dark, and she couldn't see a thing. But she knew what was happening, and she giggled. "Liam! What are you doing? We can't do this at school..." Liam sighed. "Yeah, but I couldn't help it. You expect me to see that pretty face and not kiss it?" Hayden crossed her arms. "Yes, actually, I do. Meet me in the Chem lab after school, okay? I need to talk to you." And then she planted a deep kiss on his lips, and left the supply cupboard with a swing in her hips and a skip in her step.

                                                                                    **************************

"Hey, so what did you need to speak to me about?" Liam asked, checking the hallway was clear. Hayden was leaning on a bench, with her arms crossed. Her eyes had been closed before, and they flew open when she heard his voice. She smiled and walked towards him, but Liam could tell something was up. "Hayden? Babe, come on. What's up?" Hayden reached him, and he covered her small hands with his big ones. She looked up at him. "Liam, I, uh, got asked out today..." Liam looked at her and blinked. "Okay... Well, what did you say?" Hayden looked at the floor. "I, uh, said yes..." She looked up at Liam fearfully. She was shocked to find him grinning widely. "That's perfect! Now Val has no reason to suspect anything! And everyone will think we're seeing other people! Is that okay?" Hayden nodded and looked at Liam oddly. "You know, if this is for the long term, we're gonna have to, do stuff. I mean, sixteen year-old couples don't exactly walk round hand in hand all the time..." Liam nodded stiffly. "Well, first of all, who did ask you out?" Hayden gulped. "Uh, James. From the lacrosse team." She looked at Liam closely. He was staring at his feet. She played with his fingers, which were still clenched in hers. Liam breathed out deeply. "Well, he's a good guy I suppose." He then looked at his feet. "What sort of stuff, do you mean?" Hayden took a step closer to Liam. "Well. Kiss them, obviously." Hayden whispered, and then kissed his cheek gently. "And then of course, kiss them some more." She kissed his lips gently, then pulled away, letting her self melt into his deep caramel eyes. "Yeh, uh, duh." he said stiffly. Hayden raised her eyebrows. "So you'd be ok with me kissing James?" Liam  answered shortly. "Yup. No problemo." Hayden took another step closer. "Would you be okay with me kissing him like this?" And then she reached forward, putting a hand on the back of his neck to draw him closer. She locked her lips on his, kissing him gently, but deeply. She slid her arm around his neck, and felt his hands on her waist. Before it could go any further, she ruled away and bit her lip. Liam breathed out. "No. Definitely, don't do that." Hayden laughed lightly, and walked out of his arms. He watched as she grabbed her jacket and school bag, then with a swing of her hips and a toss of her curls, she was gone. Liam snorted and shook his head. He stared after her in disbelief, then proceeded to get his own things from his locker. He tried not to be jealous when he saw Hayden talking to James at her locker, but he couldn't help it. He cleared his throat and waved. "Hey, James! Come here, I gotta talk to you about Saturday's game!" James obliged willingly, and left Hayden with a kiss on the cheek. Hayden watched as the boys walked down the hall, deep in discussion. She knew in that moment, life was about to become very difficult, and very quickly.
