Hayden woke up, her head banging. She sat up, looking around her room with her eyes half shut. She dragged the duvet off herself, and winced when she remembered the wolfsbane covered chains. She remembered Val telling her that she'd known about the werewolf side of Hayden for ages, she was just hoping that it would never show. She'd been testing Hayden when she let Liam stay, and she was very upset with the results. Val knew Liam had stayed the night, she knew about all the secret meetings. Hayden remembered the evil grin Val had worn when explaining all of this, and she sobbed. She was about to throw herself back on the pillows when she saw a piece of paper flickering by her window. She glanced at the door, then leapt from her bed to the window, praying silently that the chains would go far enough. She just reached the note and read it through quickly. Tears came to her eyes as she read Liam's hurriedly written note. She wiped her eyes roughly and held it to her chest. She jumped when she heard the door opening. She shoved the note down her top and turned to see Valerie glaring at her. "What do you think your doing out of bed? Trying to jump out the window are we? Well, I'm not very 'well informed' but I'm pretty sure werewolf healing doesn't deal with broken necks." Hayden considered correcting her, but thought better of it. Hayden sniffed and rolled her eyes. "I was thinking just how easy it would be for me to throw my bitch of a sister out the window." She emphasised the sister in the sentence so that Val might remember that Hayden was actually her only family left. Valerie looked at Hayden closely. Hayden thought she glimpsed a flicker of sadness in her eyes, but it was gone in a millisecond. Valerie smirked and crossed her arms. "Get dressed. You're going to school. As hard as I tried, the school won't let you convert to homeschooling. You're Junior Year is bout to start, so I'll just have eyes and ears, everywhere. And I mean it. You tell anyone about this, you're dead." Hayden's eyes grew with terror. She looked at the chains then back at Valerie. Val rolled her eyes again and walked forward brandishing a key. Hayden held out her wrists expectantly, and Val unlocked them. She grabbed Hayden before she could go anywhere, and yanked her to her feet. "Seriously. Try anything, and you can guarantee I'll break you." Hayden nodded and retreaded, whipping her hands out of reach of Valerie. Valerie watched as Hayden opened her wardrobe and grabbed one of Liam's hoodies and a random pair of leggings to pair with her Uggs. Valerie looked disapprovingly at the hoodie, and was rewarded with a glare from Hayden. Hayden went towards her bathroom to get changed, seeing as Val was intent on staying where she was. When she was inside, she took out Liam's note and stuffed in her Ugg boot, so she could stash it away n her locker. It was the little things like this that she held onto, to remind herself how lucky she was to have Liam.

Hayden emerged from the bathroom, dressed with her hair and makeup done. Valerie gave her a look over and then nodded. Hayden rolled her eyes and grabbed her school bag from the door, stuffing her phone and headphones in. Valerie shook her head and laughed. "You think you're getting your phone? No way." Valerie grabbed the phone and Hayden pretended to be pissed off. She grabbed her old iPod from the nightstand and stood in front of Valerie. "Can I leave now? School still starts at 8.45..." Valerie stepped aside and followed her down the stairs. Hayden grabbed her purse from the counter, and then turned to face Val. "Look, if you don't want people to suspect anything, you should probably let me go to soccer practice. I have never missed it. Ever." Valerie sighed. "I'm looking into getting you off the team." Hayden stared at her in disbelief. Val put a hand on Hayden's cheek, and Hayden jumped away like she'd been scalded. Valerie sighed. "Hayden, listen. I am going to do whatever I can to stop this, thing, form changing your life. I understand it's not your fault, and I don't want you to think it changes who you are. I'm doing this for you-" Hayden cut Valerie off. "What the hell? You don't just chain me to my bed and then tell me you're doing this for me. You are singlehandedly managing to ruin my life. Well done Miss Clark." And with that, Hayden stormed out of the door, trying to hold back the tears that threatened to fall. Valerie stood, shocked as she tried to understand what had just happened. Was she just roasted by a sixteen year old? She shut the door and half smiled, thinking about just how bad life was about to become for Hayden. Calling her by her real name really hurt, just reminded Valerie of how she wasn't actually Hayden's sister. She listened as she heard the engine on Hayden's car rev and then die down as she got further away. Valerie just shook her head and laughed lightly. Hayden's life was about to become a living hell.

Meanwhile, Hayden was sitting in her car, trying to clean up her mascara covered face. She sniffed and looked at her red eyes in the mirror. It was the best she could do. She sighed and started up the engine again. She was pulled over at a random house, because sh couldn't see through her tears. She may be many things, but stupid was not one of them. She carried on her drive to school, dying to find Liam and hide her head in his shoulders, feel his arms around her, protecting her. She longed for him to tell her he loved her, and not just the note. She drove a little faster, only half acknowledging the rising speedometer. She was well over the limit by now, she just needed to get to school. But something made her slow down, almost to a stop. The rumours. They were still going round the school, and even though all her friends knew it wasn't true, it was still a dangerous place for her to be. And how many of them were Val's eyes and ears? Liam and her were going to have to be very careful. Very, very careful. She eventually pulled up to school and parked in the car park. "Here goes nothing. " She said to herself, before stepping out of the car. She felt the eyes of everyone in the parking lot burning a hole in her back. She rushed, head down, to the blue doors that held her salvation within. She was dying to see him, feel him, kiss him. But that was not going to be easy. She walked in the doors, and kept her head down, not wanting to hear any comments. But the corridor was silent. There were people there, but everyone was staring at her. Well, her and one other person. Liam. She smiled at him, and was taken aback when he didn't smile back. She walked over to him self-conciously, aware of everyone's eyes following her. She went to grab Liam's arm, but he jerked it away, as if he couldn't stand to be touched by her. She looked horrified, and more tears came to her eyes. She gulped and was about to turn and walk away when Liam grabbed her arm and yanked her back to him. She smiled hopefully, but all that hope faded away when she saw his face. He was angry. But she noticed that something was off. She looked at him, confused, and he just stared with stoney eyes back at her. "You didn't tell me. Why didn't you tell me? I thought you loved me. But all this time you were just using me to get to him. One of my best friends. And he claims to not feel anything for you. The pregnancy rumours may be just rumours, but that doesn't matter. You're still a two-faced, bitchy little slut. I never want to see you again." Hayden began to sob openly. She put her hand over her mouth, and began to back away. As she turned she felt something slip into her hand. She grasped it and ran, down the corridor, out the blue doors, across the lacrosse pitch, into the woods, and climbed a tree quickly to hide from anyone or anything roaming the forest. She opened the piece of paper he'd slipped into her hand with shaky fingers. She read it through, one hand still covering her mouth.
Hayden,
I am so sorry. For all of this. I love you okay? That was an act, I hope you know that. I chose stuff I knew would hurt you because I wanted you to react badly. I don't mean a word of it. You are a beautiful, amazing girlfriend who I wouldn't trade for anything. Listen, I've been to your sister. I saw you last night, that's when I left the other note. I hope you got it before she did... I told her I dumped you and got a new girlfriend, hopefully she believes it! And the truth is, I have actually found someone. She agreed to fake date me, because she knows you and thins you're awesome just like I do. I know your heart-broken right now, and believe me I am too. We need to keep things on the down low, act all upset and broken-hearted when you go home. I'm trying to soften up Val, let her trust you a bit. We'll have to go back to the old times, sneaking in and stuff. But I love you okay? More than anything. And one day, you'll be mine. Properly mine. Forever.
Love You,
Liam
Hey, hope you enjoyed this chapter, I tried to make it a bit fluffy :) Next chapter will be a bit more Layden together, and not so much Evil Val. I quite like her being evil actually, it suits her. I'm gonna have a back story on Val up in the next few days, and it's about her not being Hayden's blood sister and everything. Thanks so much for reading, love you guys!
