Chapter 18

Alejandra

Two months later
I walked to my car grinning like an idiot. I cannot wait to tell Fernando what I just discovered. Things have been great for the past weeks. He definitely knows how to make me happy. 

I wiped some sweat off my forehead. Gosh! Why am I sweating so much. My phone pingned signaling that I had a new message.

‘You are mine only. Not his.’

I was suddenly pushed towards a moving car. The force of the impact pushed be to the ground. The pain was unbearable.I didn't even open my eyes before losing consciousness.

Fernando

I stared at the airplane tickets in my hands . I have been planning a romantic getaway for Alejandra and I. I plan on revealing my feelings for her then.

The past few weeks have been beautiful. I can see a future with her. I love her.

My phone was ringing. It was an unknown number.

“Hello?”

“Hello. Is this Fernando Dominguez? ”

“Yes. Who is this and how may I help you? ”

“This is nurse Williams calling from the City Hospital. Your wife was involved in an accident. ”

I stopped breathing for a minute it felt like a weight had been put on my heart.

“Is she okay? ”

“She is currently in the ER. Please come here to get more information on her condition.”

“Sure.”

Alejandra's family,my parents and Karina were in the waiting room when I arrived.

“Is there any information? ”

“No,they haven't said anything yet.” my mother managed to say through her tears.

“Who are you.” I asked the stranger I had just noticed.

The man remained quite. The fear clearly visible on his face.

“I asked you a-”

“He's man that hit my sister. ” Andre replied.

My temper flared up.

“What were you thinking! ” I grabbed him by his collar and slammed him against the wall. My dad immediately came to my side and tried to release the stupid man from my hold.

“S-sir. I w-wouldn't h-have hit h-her if she h-hadn't run i-i-infront of m-my c-c-car.” he stuttered.

I felt my strength leave my body as my arms dropped to my sides.

“What.” I said in disbelief.

“Your wife wanted to get hit.” he said calmly. Fear still evident in his eyes.

“My sister wouldn't do that! ” Diego objected.

“What if she relapsed? ” Karina whispered. It was no used because I still heard her.

“Relapsed? What are you talking about? ”

My parents looked confused and everyone else looked either nervous or wary.  They will have to reveal whatever it is they are hiding.

Attempted Suicide. I can't believe  she never told me. Why would she hide this from me. Most of all why would she try this now.I thought we were both happy.

“Alejandra Dominguez? ”

We all got up at once.“That's my wife. ”

“Well sir. Am glad to say that it was nothing serious she just fractured her leg.”

“That's good.”

“But, she has to be on bed rest for the next three weeks.”

“Why? I thought you said she only fractured her arm.” my father asked.

“Yes. But we need to make sure nothing happens to the baby she's carrying. Such an accident should have been fatal . But the child is a survivor. ”

I didn't know what to say. I was going to be a father. And I might have lost that chance because my wife supposedly tried to kill herself.

My phone vibrated and my world stopped spinning for the second time today.

  ‘STAY AWAY FROM ALEJANDRA OR YOUR SISTER DIES.’

The text was accompanied by a picture of my sister bound to a chair.

This just got even more messed up.
