Chapter 5

"Hey mom!" I said as I walked into her office. "Could I ask you a question?" I asked. "Yeah of course!" My mom said. "So do you I could start eventing?!" I asked really excitedly. "Well where did you get such an idea?" My mom asked me. "I don't know, I was watching video on YouTube on Rolex." (Rolex is a huge 3 day event for eventing!)  "Well if that makes you happy sure!" I said. "Really?!" I asked again! "Yes, now I have to go teach some lessons we can talk about it later at dinner." She said as she gave me a hug and left her office. I texted my friend Rose
Lilly: My mom said I could start eventing!
Rose: That's awesome! When are you starting to take lessons?!
Lilly: Soon! I'll text you later!!
Rose: Okay bye!

Rose was my friend that I met in fourth grade and we have been friends ever since. Her mom owned an eventing barn about a mile up the road. She was an amazing rider. After my mom finished lessons we ate dinner. "So when do you think I can start taking lessons?" I asked mom. "Well I talked to Rose's mom and she said that she could come tomorrow to start teaching you." My mom said. "Do you know who you are going to ride?" She asked. "I think Chester." I said. "He did some eventing before you bought him right?" I asked. "Yeah he did!" She said.

"Hey Mrs. Roads!" I said as my new trainer came in. "Hi Lilly, but don't call me Mrs.Roads I have known you forever!" She said. "Okay you've warmed up right?" Linda asked me. "Yes I did." I said back. "Kay so let's start by doing half seat." My trainer said. "That looks perfect, now come over this cross rail just let Chester take you to the fence." She said. "Perfect!" Linda said as we landed on the other side of the jump.

"Now come to this vertical, it's only 2 foot." Linda said to me after I did some cross rails. "Kay." I said. I steadied Chester and went into half seat. "Your a born jumper!" Linda said. "Thank you!" I said. "When do you want to do another lesson?" She asked. "Are you free Friday?" I asked. "Yes let's do 8:30 am so it's not so hot." Linda answered my question. "Alright see you then!" I yelled as Linda left the indoor.

"Hey mom." I said walking into the house and taking off my boots. I rode all my horses. "Hey hun." She said. "The lesson went amazing today." I said walking into the kitchen. "Good I'm glad!" Mom said. "So I think I'm going to start doing jumpers." I said. "I don't really want to do eventing." I said in one breath. "Sounds good! Dinner is ready! Let's eat!" She said.

"Morning mom. I'm heading to the barn to ride." I said as I walked into the mud room to get my riding boots on. "Awesome I'll be out soon. Do you wanna go on a trail ride?" Mom asked. "Yeah I'll take Chester, he worked really well yesterday!" I said.

After I rode Checkers and Ginger I headed to Chester's stall. I needed to brush him and he was super dirty.

"Ready? Let's go!" I said to my mom as we headed out on the trail. "He was so dirty!" I said to my mom. "lol I bet Chester always ends up dirty." Mom said laughing. "Haha tell me about it." I said in a complaining voice.

"That was such an awesome trail ride." I said as we entered the barn. "Yes it really was." She said. "Can Rose spend the night?" I asked. "Her mom is coming to teach me tomorrow so she could ride Star over tonight and then we could have a lesson together tomorrow." I said really fast. "Yeah of course!" My awesome mother said. So I texted Rose.
Lilly: Wanna ride Star over and spend the night then have a lesson tomorrow from your mom?
Rose: yasss! be over in 30!
Lilly: Kay! See you then ;)

"Mom! Rose will be over in like 5!" I yelled as I got in the house. "Okay! Did she eat dinner?" She asked. "No." I responded. As I was setting the table Rosie walked in. "Heyyy!" I said to Rose. "Heyyyyy! I haven't seen you in forever!" My best friend said. "I totally agree." I said as we hugged. "This dinner is awesome Mrs.Seen." Rose said eating the last bit of her food. "Thanks darling. But don't call me Mrs.Seen it's Deb!" My mom said getting up from the table and collecting our plates. "Thanks mom. We are going to head upstairs." I said climbing up the stairs with Rose behind me. "Alright goodnight girls!" My mom yelled.

"Morning!" I yelled into Rose's face and smacked her with a pillow. We stayed up until 1:30 last night I mean this morning. "Ugh!" She yelled. "Oh my gosh it's 7:58! We have a lesson in an 32 mins!" She said as she looked on her phone. "I know! That's why I'm waking you up! Lol." I said. We got dressed into breaches and tank tops.

"Morning mom." Said Rosie as her mom entered the indoor. "Let's start by going over that cross rail and then to the 2'3 vertical." Linda said. "I know that Lilly hasn't jumped that but you will be fine, Chester will take care of you and your a natural jumper." Said Linda. After that lesson I walked one sweaty Chester into the barn. "That was a killer lesson." I said to Rosie. "I know I don't think I've ever had such a hard lesson from her." Rose said. We ended up doing 2'6 bounces.

"Wanna spend the night again?" I asked Rosie as we walked to the house for lunch. "Yeah sure I'll text my mom right now!" Rosie said grapping out her phone. "She said yes!" Rosie said a minute later. "Wow that was fast!" I said. "Yeah I totally agree. I'm guessing she's not teaching or riding lol." Rosie said. "Agreed!" I said. "Race you to the house!" I said taking off.
