Ashton's POV:

"C'mon mate, we need to finish the song." Calum whined as he poked Luke's cheek.

Luke had been difficult all day, rather disconnected if you asked me. I wasn't being too cooperative either. I usually wanted to play my drums 25/8, but I was having an off day as well and couldn't seem to focus on anything other than biting my nails... and I don't even bite my nails?

Luke sighed and turned back to us, "Alright."

"ThAnk GoD." Michael praised sarcastically and Luke shot him a look.

"Okay, let's go over what we already go-" Calum started but was interrupted by the opening of the front door and the drop of keys, my keys, on to the front table.

All at once, I saw the three girls walk into the house, and none of them with their usual bright smiles on. I watched as Shannon took Luke by the wrist and pulled him into the bathroom, closing the door shut behind her.

I looked at the other boys with a confused look and they shrugged. I turned forward once more to see Lyndsey standing in front of me with her eyes bloodshot red. Her facial expression looked softer than usual, but I could still feel her headstrong vibe radiating off of her as she looked down at my shoes.

"Can w- can we talk?" she stuttered for the first time since I met her.

Without thinking about it, I took her hand, which probably wasn't my smartest decision considering she was probably still beyond pissed off at me, and then pulled her outside on to the pool deck. Luckily, she didn't fight off my touch, and I was thankful because it felt nice to have her hand in mines again.

I sat her down on a pool chair and then knelt down in front of her.

"Are you okay?" "No Ashton, i'm not." she sniffled, still not giving me eye contact.

"Your words literally ripped me to shreds, and i've heard worse than what you've told me.... it's just...... it hurt coming from someone i've looked up to for so long and now... someone that I really really reAlly like."

"I'm so sorry Lyndsey...... I promise you that there's no way I meant what I said... it's just that..... you bring out the worst in me in situations like this, and you weren't listening to me and I wanted to make you feel the rage and sorrow I felt an-" "Haven't you heard the saying 'don't fight fire with fire'?" she interrupted me and I sighed.

"I'm so sorry." I simply said again and bowed my head into my knees.

We sat there for a few minutes in silence, both lost in our thoughts i'm sure. I felt the sun beating on the back of my jean jacket and the sweat starting to form on my forehead. I lifted my head up and wiped the sweat from above my brow. My eyes then met Lyndseys who was looking down at me.

"What is it?" "How do you manage to look so good when you're sweating like I swear to god you're glistening." she commented and a real smile appeared on my face for the first time in over 24 hours.

"I'm Edward Cullen's long lost brother, haven't you heard?" "Ew, I sure hope not, he's gaaay."  she said, dragging out the 'y'.

I chucked and managed to smile even wider when I saw a smile appear on her face, and it was because of me.

"I really miss you, you do know this don't you?" I asked in a soft voice as I tucked a piece of stray hair that was dangling in front of her face behind her ear as if it was second nature.

"I guess I miss you too like, who else is going to fetch me my hot fries from the kitchen?" she joked.

"Oh c'monnnnnn, you know you miss my 'big massive perfect defined' biceps." I smirked and her jaw literally dropped into my lap.

"aSHTON OH MY GOD HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT I ONLY WROTE THAT ON MY TWIT-" she yodeled but then stopped herself mid sentence when she realized what i've been up to.

"How did yo-" "I'm just a boss like that." I replied cheerfully.

"Don't say that again or i'll hit you with Luke's gross jandals." "That's my girl." I grinned and intertwined my hand with hers.

"You do understand that we're still not dating and I still need time to recover from yesterday right?" she announced and I nodded.

"Take all the time you need, i'll be here." I responded honestly and looked up to her,

"Good, because..... I really did miss you, Ash." she admitted on a non-sarcastic note for the first time.

I studied her eyes and was almost blown away by the seriousness they held. I waited a few seconds for a "sike" or "lmao i'm good" but, she said nothing, just continued to look at me with her big brown eyes, waiting for me to say something back.

"Can I kiss you?" I asked as I looked down at her lips and was relieved to see her nod her head. I wasted no time in getting the deed done and smashing my lips on to her intoxicating ones and smiled as the kiss instantly deepend.

I desperately wanted to say the famous three words to her, because I really do... love her. But I knew she wanted to take things slow, and I had to respect that, especially after what I did to her.

We pulled back at the same time and I gave her hand a tight squeeze.

"We're going to be alright."
