I opened my eyes to realize it was morning. I sat up and did a little stretch, only to look to my left and see my mom scurrying around the room, packing bags and yelling at someone on the phone, what a lovely way to start the morning. Not to mention, not only was my head was pounding from the bump I recieved yesterday, but also with memories from last night.
"YES, THANK YOU SIR, FOR BEING NO HELP AT ALL!" My mom said abruptly ending the call and crashing on the bed with her head in her hands.
"What's going on?" I asked softly as I got up and sat next to her on the bed.
"I was supposed to pay the hotel the rest of their money this morning, but, the other half of my money hasn't come through like it was supposed to. I tried calling everyone trying to figure out how long it will take for my money to go through, but they said it could be days.... and the hotel won't wait for their money so we have no where to go...." My mom trembled as she looked up at me with frustration and watery eyes.
I bit my lip nervously and then gave her a tight hug, rubbing her back in an attempt to soothe her. I knew she was upset and this was the last thing she wanted my late birthday present to turn in to.
"It's going to be okay..... we'll figure something out, okay?" I said as I backed out of the hug.
She sniffled and looked up at me, noticing the small but red bump on my head.
"What's this?" she questioned as she gently poked the bump, making me wince.
"I'll tell you about it later, lets just focus on packing right now, okay?" I replied, not wanting to worry her anymore with my injuries.
She nodded, slowly got up, and continued to pack all of our belongings.
I sighed and walked over to Jeremy and Lyndsey who, of course, were still passed out on the bed, with their bodies sprawled in all different directions.
After a long 5 minutes of pushing them, singing horribly in their ears, and walking on their backs, they finally rolled off the bed and let me explain what was going on.
"Fuck...." Jeremy grumbled after hearing about our misfortune.
"What are we going to do?" Lyndsey asked, being serious for the first time since I got whacked in the face.
"I don't know.... we'll figure something out though, I promise." I replied, giving them a slight smile.
After we finished packing, we didn't have much time to take a shower, let alone change due to the fact we had to be out of the room by 10:30am and it was already 10:25.
We exited the hotel and walked on to the streets of Los Angeles, not having a penny to our name, welcome to what is my life.
For the first hour, we sulked around, letting our current position bring us down. But then, I realized, what the heck we're on vacation, might as well make the best of it.
I dragged my mom into a free wine tasting store while Jeremy, Lyndsey, and I ran next door to a vintage clothing shop, taking the most ridiculous selfies.
"Am I hipster yet?" Lyndsey asked as she posed in a pair of high waisted shorts, a tucked in flowery tanktop, and a pair of flats and she threw a peace sign over her face.
I laughed and then jumped about 4 feet off the ground when I felt a buzz in my pocket.
I slipped my phone out of my pocket and noticed I got a DM, it was probably from my friend Molly from New Zealand. But to much of my surprise....... it wasn't........
My face turned white as I looked down at my DMS to see a DM from Luke saying:
"Heeeeeeeey" followed by the suspicious eye emoji.
