I was dead. Or as far as anyone knew I was. Everything worked like clockwork; just as I planned; people are predictable, aren't they? This gives them a chance. Me a chance. Free from the guilt, the commitment, the lies. I can't be that girl anymore. This is me. The me I need to be.
Dropping the pen I glance over the words on my page; my heart racing as the words sink in. I was dead. A small smile creeps across my lips before I scratch the words from the page.
This doesn't need to be seen.
Glancing at my reflection I trace my lips with red lipstick and smile. Ready for another day.
"I was dead," the words pour from my blood red lips.
The phone buzzes to life next to me and pulls me back into the present. My eyes scan a text from Amy which reads: 'Hey L, check my drafts for 'That Girl'- I think I have a new blog post.'
"Dead." The word comes spluttering from my mouth and lingers in the room like a shadow. It'll follow me everywhere.
