Vixen watched Shale lock the door. She stood in the kitchen with her arms crossed. A frown on her face. Shale hadn't been answering her questions or even meeting her eyes. Finally when Shale turned around she walked up to him. Uncrossing her arms she met his eyes.
"What the hell was that?" She screamed. Shale sighed and moved around her. Vixen spin around and stared at Shale. He was sitting on a chair resting his head in his hands. His eyes closed. Vixen narrowed her eyes and opened her mouth to speak. Shale's hand went up, silencing her. He took a deep breath and looked up. Frowning he spoke.
"That was exactly what you said. Hell." He whispered. His eyes met Vixens. He waved a hand, signaling her to sit down. Vixen took a chair closest to Shale and watched him, waiting. Shale took another deep breath and began explaining.
"You ever remember hearing stories about vampires and other supernatural creatures?" He asked. Vixen narrowed her eyes in annoyance.
"I don't remember anything. Obliviously you forgot that." She hissed. Shale flinched a little and shook his head.
"Fine. Those, things, back there were vampires. They've been preying on towns scenic the beginning of time. Because of the disappearing human population a few vampire came together. They formed a group called the Regnum. They made the rules for the vampire world. Humans from the town you lived in were off limits. Vampires can live a few weeks with only a little blood. So another law was passed that vampires could only eat once or twice a month." He paused to take a breath and let Vixen understand what he said. Her eyes seemed distant and confused.
"Ok. So if those laws were passed why were those vampires killing human? They called themselves something. I can't remember what it was." She said. Her voice was distant and quite. Like she was scared to talk normal. Shale closed his eyes and shook his head again.
"Messores. Their called Messores. A few months ago a new vampire rose up. She was unknown. She had no family, no name, no past. She disregarded our rules. Killing for fun instead of food. After a while we began calling her Mors. It means death in Latin. The original language of vampires. After her arrival more and more vampires began killing. Throwing aside the rules we followed for centuries. Simply because of Mors. The Regnum called together the best hunters to catch her and we did. There's still her followers, however. Trying to enslave humans. Those were the ones you met in the alley." He finished and put his head on the table. Vixen narrowed her eyes a stood up. She looked at Shale.
"What do you mean our? Shale?" She whispered. Shale lifted his head and looked at her. His eyes seemed to glow gold. Vixen shook her head. It's just the light from outside, she thought. Shale smiled and laughed.
"Well damn. Seems I've let my secret slip." He chuckled. Vixen took a step back. Her eyes widening. Shale stood up and watched her.
"Shale? Your a vampire aren't you? Your not a Messores though, are you?" She asked. Her voice wavered. Shale looked offended. He laughed.
"No. I'd never be seen in the presence with those proditores. I'm the best hunter the Regnum has." He said, rather proud. Vixen narrowed her eyes. She looked shocked, terrified, and confused all at once. Shale saw her expression and frowned.
"God damn I'm going to like those Messores for this." He whispered and sighed.
"Vixen. I should have told you earlier but I didn't want to frighten you. You are also a vampire." Vixen froze. A smile began to form on her face. Suddenly she began laughing. Shale jumped, confused.
"Wow, Shale you should be be a comedian. You think I didn't notice something was wrong with me. I've had this pain in the pit of my stomach scenic I woke up. I also found some stuff in your room." She said smiling. Shale looked taken aback.
"My room? Wait. You went into my room!" He yelled. Vixen laughed.
"You left me here alone with nothing to do for an hour, what did you expect." Shale frowned and turned around.
"Fine.I'm going to bed. Whatever you do don't leave. I won't save you if your in trouble again." He growled and walked away. Vixen stared at him as he walked away. She turned to the door and frowned. Sighing she walked to her room and laid down int he bed. Her eyes closed as the room filled with moonlight.

Vixen woke with a start. From the minuet she opened her eyes she knew something was wrong. The room was nothing but a dark pit. She looked around confused. Behind her she heard someone yelling. Her head whipped around to see someone holding the limp body of a young child. Vixen knew it was the mother, from the way she was weeping. Behind her a figure spoke. Vixen narrowed her eyes trying to see the person, but the shadows hid their face.
"We told you what would happen if you messed with us. Your son's dead and you lucky we didn't kill you." The vision ended quickly. Vixen jumped out up in bed. Her hair stuck her her forehead in sweat. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. There was definitely something going on and she was going to get to the bottom of it.
