Lacy's POV.
"Oh hi there Grayson!" Our counselor speaks, ushering Grayson to admire my piece with him.
"If you don't mind I'll be continuing my drawing" I say, but just as I'm about to grab the page Grayson snatches it and admires it himself. He looks over every detail of the semi-finished work, occasionally glancing back at me, making me feel very self conscious.
"It's amazing Lacy, I wish I was as talented as you!" Grayson exclaims.
"Uhm, well thanks" I say, quickly snatching the drawing and scurrying back to our table to continue it, but before I do I hear a snippet of quite an interesting conversation...
Grayson's POV.
"It's quite the work, isn't it?" I say to our counselor.
"Listen Grayson, Lacy is special, I'm sure you know but please be careful with her. She tries to act strong but she isn't as mighty as she might hope. I care for her and I don't want a teenage boy breaking her, she's already broken."
I'm taken aback by this comment but I decide to speak my mind anyway, "Believe me, I have absolutely no intention of hurting Lacy, she means far too much to me."
"Thank you for that Grayson, I don't believe you'll hurt her, I'm just cautious." He tells me and I'm happy that he trusts me, he knows the most precious things about Lacy so I would hope to have slightly grown on him.
I leave the table at which our counselor was sitting and make my way back to my table, thinking very carefully about every word he uttered. I don't want a teenage boy breaking her, she's already broken, I wonder what that's supposed to mean? Why is she so broken?
Our session ends just as I get back to the table and although everyone else slowly begins to file out of the room, Lacy hasn't moved from her chair. She still stares at her drawing, critiquing every inch of it.
"It really is beautiful" I think to myself, although I'm no longer thinking of the drawing. I continue to stare at her like a weirdo until she notices where my focus is and immediately starts packing away.
She meets me at the door and mutters to me as we leave,"Why are you always watching me?"
"Because you're beautiful" I say as I bring my focus back to where I'm walking, before I walk into a pole or something.
"No I'm not!" She protests and I'm about to say something but she beats me to it and starts talking about what she wants to do once she graduates or whatever she was talking about, I wasn't exactly concentrating.
"Grayson! Grayson!" she exclaims looking over at me.
"Huh?" I laugh as I look at her fuming face, which is actually quite adorable.
"Where you even listening to me? Did you hear a word I said!" She yells, but it doesn't seem nearly as intimidating as it's supposed to be.
"Go on a date with me." I say, nothing in this moment was at all planned. If I'm being honest I was 100% winging it.
"Of course you weren't listening, typic- Wait, what?"
"Go on a date with me"
"Well what timing is this?" Her anger completely lost, now a giggling mess.
"It seemed to work for Augustus Waters, why not?"
At this point in time she can't even speak she's laughing so hard. I swear she almost fell over.
"Why not hey?"
"Great!" I say, "I'll see you at 7, dress comfortably" I say as she gets into the front seat of her moms car. Smooth Gray, real smooth.
Lacy's POV.
"So, going on a date with Grayson I hear" Mom chirps up as she pulls out of the parking lot and onto the road.
"Oh gosh!" I mumble , laying further into my car seat as my cheeks begin to redden.
"Homestly, I ship it" my mom speaks from next to me and for a second I think that my ears are failing me. I give my mom as quizzical look and she scoffs before saying, "Oh come on Lacy, I'm not as behind the times as you might think!". I tilt my head at her and she sighs before speaking, "Oh alright, Lisa" I tilt my head further "..Dolan. Anyway she explained to me what it meant after Ethan explained it to her when he was saying he shipped himself with that Minaj girl."
"That makes more sense" I laugh as we continue our drive home.
