My first day

It soon became lunch time so I decided to go to the canteen and get some lunch. It was almost like being back at school again with the stereo typical groups congregating at their tables. Luckily there were not too many so I made my way to an empty table and pulled out my food. There was a larger table which ran half way down the room in the middle with booths on the outside all around, none of it was closed off however, much to my dismay.  Today I had a banana and a healthy salad, nothing too interesting. I gazed around watching people, I tended to like doing this and analysing people. There was a group on the long table laughing together, a group of guys on another table, I saw them fixing lights earlier, they were all dressed causally in T shirts and jeans.

I looked down frowning at myself wishing I could immerse myself into the social depths that horrify me so much. I don't really do friends or anything like that and never really felt the need to, I've always been good at being alone, I guess it's all I know. Putting my rubbish in the bin I walked out the doors and into the lobby, standing by a pillar as I checked my phone. There were a few people out here in deep conversation. I looked up then down before doing a double check to see who was walking towards me. "Hey Camila, I'm glad you decided to come, it means we can get a lot more work done rather you doing it from home".
"Yes I know Simon, let's not discuss this here I don't want anyone to find out remember".
He looked at me apologetically, before giving my arm a soft rub and searching my eyes for forgiveness.
"So how have you been?" He changed the subject pretty fast. My blank expression soon changed as I talk to Simon animatedly, for the next 10 minutes catching up with each other. I've know Simon for a few years since I've been under his wing, but it's not something I go around bragging about, I like to keep out of the world of celebrity and I wouldn't know one if they walked straight passed me. The day soon passed quickly and Simon wanted me to meet up with him again in his dressing room after work. I said bye to Harry and turned all of the sound equipment off after I had checked it was all okay, walking down the hall way I knocked on to what Simon told me was his dressing room.
"Come in" I heard him shout, I turned the door handle and walked in. It was a large room with a couple of sofas and a large mirror with a makeup chair in front of it. "Hey Camila I thought I could introduce you to a couple of my fellow judges this is Louis and Sharon".
They waved and said hi at me, I beamed a smile back giving them a small 'hello'. We got to know each other a bit, I found out they had been judging for a few years now and that they had hired a new judge but they were not here yet as they were flying from America. Simon looked at me "so Camila as we will be moving around the country I thought that we could all stay in the same hotel, if you would like to move in the next day or so if that's okay?".
"I mean I guess so, that wouldn't be so bad, could I possibly get my own room?"
"Your room is already set up for you, here is your key, we are staying at the Hilton down the road, I'll get you a schedule". He handed me a key with a key ring for the Hilton on and my room number, he then handed me a piece of paper with the list of destinations for the next few weeks. "Thanks Si, I'll get all of my stuff together, I better get going, it was nice meeting you both as well". Simon hugged me and Sharon bounced up and said "it was nice to meet you too, Simon talks highly of you, hopefully we will see you around". I raised an eyebrow at Simon as I found out he had been talking about me, he's never had any children and I'm like the daughter he never had, he just smirked at me before seeing me out of the door.

After my 30 minute commute I got back to my flat and started packing my essentials, seeing as I won't be back home for a while. Everyone today had been so lovely I was kind of surprised, I just hope it carries on like this seeing as we will be almost kind of living together. I took a deep breath and packed my most loved belongings including my laptop, writing book and a few essentials. It had been a long day already and I was quite tired, I wheeled my suitcase down stairs and out the door, deciding not to take my car, I flagged down a taxi and asked if I could be taken to the hotel. I stared up out of the window of the taxi, day dreaming about how insignificant life can be, It makes me realise how small I am compared to the rest of the world, in sense it can make me feel belittled, like when you are up high on a hill looking out at the horizon, and you see how on the scale of things you are so minute. How the world still carries on even when you are not here, it's almost like time stops for a second and you're just sat there wondering what is going to happen next, this euphoric feeling Making me a little fuzzy.

This is my first published writing so please bare with me as I go along.
