Chapter 9
After I had managed to stand up we made our way to the cafeteria since we had just wasted 2 hours of class time with me crying and staining Jaces shirt it was lunch time. We got to the large mahogany doors of the cafeteria and I could already hear all of the chatting of the students on the other side of the doors.
"You don't have to walk in with me you know" I said to him, I didn't think that our little dr. Phil session had made us best buds for life but I didn't want Georgina attacking him if we walk in together.
"No its ok I want to, just protect me if your friend decides to attack me" he said smiling at me as if he had heard what I was just thinking.
He pushed open the doors and we walked through them, I was expecting the cafeteria to turn into unbearable silence and everyone to be staring at us but everyone just kept on going with their normal lunch time conversations, only a few people looked up at us but other than that we were just two freshmen walking late into the cafeteria. I wasn't hungry so I started making me way to the table me and Georgina usually sit at, and apparently Jace wasn't hungry either since he followed me outside as well.
"OMG are you ok?" Georgina asked while giving me a hug I hugged her back and hopped she wasn't going to flip when she sees Jace with me.
"Yer I'm fine" I told her giving her a small smile.
"Good I thought that-what the hell are you doing here aren't you supposed to be inside with all the other snobs?" she said giving him
a death glare. I stepped in front of him before she could punch him or take away his glory.
"No its ok he was walking me to our seat"
"Actually I was going to ask if it was ok if I sit with you" he asked while looking at the ground. Aww it's so cute when he is shy like that.
"Thanks for listening to my sad story and everything but I don't need you to stay around and protect me, no one is coming to get me while I'm at lunch and I will see you in the training room when we have to practice." I said to him, giving him a smile hoping it would convince him, because the truth is I don't want his pity or for him to feel obliged to have to stay by my side, because there might be
someone after me.
"Oh ok then I will meet you in the training room then" I saw the hurt in his eyes and felt like a total bitch. He turned and made his way into the cafeteria and I sat down next to Georgina. I sat there listening to Georgina's ramblings for the rest of lunch, while my mind was solemnly concentrating on one person.
As soon as the bell rand signalling the end of lunch I jumped up from my seat, said a quick, gotta go, to Georgina and all but ran to the training room. When I got there I opened the door and stepped into pitch black darkness. There was no sign of life or more importantly no sign of Jace and I felt my heart sink at the realization of this. I started walking over to the wall where I knew the light switch was, I was just about to flick the lights on when,
"I wouldn't do that if I were you" Jace said right in my ear, making me jump back in surprise.
"Why are we having one of your, 'lets see how long it takes for Melanie to lose in a fight where she cant see what she is doing' games?" I asked with annoyance clearly heard in my voice. I thought we were over all of this immature crap when I basically told him my life story.
I heard the wind swoosh around me and when I looked up, there was a large ball of fire there and I could just see it illuminating part of Jace's face, and I could see a big cocky grin on it. Ughhh not this bull shit again I thought this was over.
"No, im not in the mood for that game, I want you to try and put out the ball of fire with your water" he said, nah im going to put it out with my foot, I think to myself while rolling my eyes at him.
" Don't roll your eyes at me im trying to train you" he said but I could hear a small amount of sarcasm in his voice.
Puh-lease I thought, I started building up energy and kept my eyes on the ball of fire floating in the air, then I let out a full blast of water flying towards the fire. But instead of the sizzling sound of the water putting out the fire I heard it smash into the wall, the ball of fire had now moved towards the other end of the room, where it glowed mockingly.
"What the hell that's not fair!" I yelled at Jace, the only answer I received was one of an evil laugh.
"Try again" he said with laughter still clearly heard.
I tried again and again and again. Each time I missed and failed miserably. I started to get frustrated and throwing masses and masses of ice and water, each time still missing the stupid fire.
"Do you give up yet?!" Jace yelled while laughing at the stupid game he had invented. "You know you could give up you don't-"
He was cut off as I blasted out a thick mixture of ice and water and sent it flying towards him full blast. As soon as the cold liquid touched him the fire extinguished and Jace was thrown back into the wall, once the water had all disappeared down the drain all that was left was Jace in a heap on the floor. I started walking over to him and I was trying to hold in my laughter, the face he pulled just before the water smashed into him, was classic. When I got to him, I kneeled down next to him and rolled him over, his hair was a massive mess and his clothes were drenched,he started to try and get up but he just fell back down. He just sat there with his back against the wall and he was staring at me. I couldnt take the silence much longer so I decided to break it by saying sorry for almost killing him.
"Jace, Im-" I was cut off by his lips crashing down on mine, I was about to pull away but he put his hand on the back of my head making escape impossible. Then I let my walls down and I was kissing him back, I put both hands behind his head and intertwined my fingers into his hair, pulling him closer and deapening the kiss, and he moaned in pleasure. This kiss was unlike any other that I had experienced, there were no fireworks or me feeling light headed, just a blazing fire building up deep within my soul, that Jace was helping to keep ablaze. He traced my lower lip beging for entrance which I gladly gave it to him, our tongues danced and he tasted like vanilla. He moved his hand from the back of my head and placed it on my waist and that was enough to make me pull back. When our lips separated we were both panting and then I saw the position we were in, his back was right up against the wall and I was stradling him. I quickly jumped off him and blushed beet red.
"I like it when you blush its cute" he said, making me blush even deeper if that were possible. He then jumped up off the ground and when he saw the shock on my face a big grin formed on his.
"You were faking that whole time?!" I shrieked, I thought I had seriously hurt him.
"Well, I was getting you mad for a reason and then when you blasted me into the wall, it kind of turned me on, and when you were about to apologise, I couldnt help myself" he said while chuckling.
"You're unbelievable, I thought I had seriously hurt you and you were faking to have a make out session?"
"Oh come on, dont be like that, you know you loved it just as much as I loved it" he said giving me a smirk. Huh, well payback is going to be a bitch.
"Yer, I suppose you're right, but it wasnt the best make-out session, or kiss that I have had" I said with my own smirk and his face fell to a frown. I was trying my hardest not to laugh when I made my way out the door.
