Chapter 19
It was hard to hide the fact that I wasn't dead after Jace and I nearly burnt down the school and then froze it in ice. So when I opened my eyes to find the room filled with a cold heavy mist it was inevitable for someone to come into Jaces room wondering what the hell was going on.
"Jace are you ok?!" I heard the voices of Ben and Georgina as they pushed open the frozen door.
The ice cracked and shattered as they made their way inside our little winter wonderland and stopped at the doorway in shock. When I saw Georgina step into the doorway there was nothing that I wanted more that to run to her and give her a massive hug. Jace let me go and we both sat up on the bed and waited for Georgina and Ben to come closer. I had to admit we had made a really big mess of Jace's room. Everything was covered in ice which had once been covered in fire so Georgina and Ben had to climb over mounds of ice just to get close to the bed.
"Hey." I said to Georgina and she stopped abruptly right next to the bed. I waited for her to speak or even move but she stood there shaking until finally she slowly glanced at me. Her eyes went wide in disbelief and tears started welling in her eyes and running down her cheeks.
"Georgina?" I cautiously carved my way out of the ice bubble and stood beside her. She completely caught me off guard and wrapped her arms tight around me in a death grip hug. I hugged her back while she sobbed in my shoulder and I started cooing soothing words to her to try and calm her down. When she had stopped soaking my shirt with her tears I started explaining everything to them about how I managed to survive dying.
"So what will happen once you take off the ring? Will you die?" Georgina asked with worry thick in her voice and clearly shown on her face. To be honest I had no idea what would happen, if I would die once I removed the immortal ring or if nothing would happen at all. I guess I'd better give it a try. I place my hand over the ring and everyone in the room gasped. I saw the look of horror on both Georgina and Jace's faces but before they could react I began to pull it off.
I felt the cool silver band of the ring slipping off my finger until I was holding it in my left hand. We all sat there holding our breath, waiting for something, anything to happen, but nothing did. We all let out a sigh of relief and I held the ring tight in my hand.
"I think I need to go and see Ms Fitzgerald unless we want all the students to start thinking they can see the dead." I said breathing out a laugh and looking around for a way out of Jace's now ice covered room.
"Did you want us to come with you?" Jace asked. I had to admit I didn't want to go by myself.
"Umm, can you come with me?" I asked Georgina. She nodded her head and followed me out of Jace's room.
We left the dorm and started walking to the office in a comfortable silence. The halls were still eerily quiet and I was grateful that I had Georgina with me.
We got to the front desk and once the assistant saw me her mouth fell open and her face went pale as if she was seeing a ghost. For once she didn't have anything smart to say and I felt a small smile pull at my lips, fighting the urge to shout 'BOO!'.
"I need to see Ms Fitzgerald." I said to her. She just slowly nodded her head and gestured towards the door which led to her office.
Georgina and I walked over to the door and knocked. We stood there waiting and for some reason I began to feel nervous.
"Yes what is-" she began to say while opening the door, but she stopped mid-sentence when she saw me. Then she did something seriously unexpected: she pulled me into a hug. It felt awkward but I hugged her back.
