Drake's P.O.V*
I held Brandon's hand as we walked to the bus stop. I can't help but think of how amazing it was to kiss Hayden again. After a year and a half, it was nice to kiss her again. When I kissed her there was spark. I won't let myself love her again. I'll fight it if I have to. But I'm not going to let Ashton have her either.
We finally made it to the bus stop and I sat down with Brandon on my lap. I bounced him up and down on my knee and he laughed.
"You seem like a pretty good dad for a teenager." I looked up to see a girl smiling at me. She had very long brown hair and green eyes. She looked about my age.
"Thanks." I said.
"I'm Delaney." She put out her hand and I shook it.
"I'm Drake and this is my son Brandon." I responded.
"I've never seen you at this bus stop before. Are you new to the neighborhood?"
"No. I was picking up my son."
"Oh, cool. There's a party at my friends house tonight you should come."
The bus I needed pulled up and opened the doors. I got up and held Brandon's hand."Here's the address." She handed me a slip of paper.
"I'll think about it." I took the slip of paper and climbed onto the bus.
Ashton's P.O.V*
This sucks! Whoever gave Hayden the information surely got their facts screwed up. And I have an idea of who told her. I left the house and went next door to the Evans house. I rang the doorbell and Mrs. Evans answered the door.
"Good morning Ashton. Can I help you?"
"I'm sorry to bother you, but can I speak to J.T?"
"Sure, come on in."I walked in and smelled breakfast. I heard talking between J.T and his father. I followed Mrs. Evans into the kitchen and they looked up at us.
"Morning Ashton." Mr. Evans greeted.
"Morning. J.T. can I talk to you for a minute?"
"Sure, no problem."We went upstairs to his room so that his parents couldn't hear us. I don't really want them to know this information.
"What's up?" J.T. asked, shutting his bedroom door.
"Did you tell my girlfriend about what happened between me and Deanna?"
A guilty expression crossed his face. "It may have slipped out."
I groaned and rolled my eyes. J.T. is cool to talk to sometimes, but I hate when he listens in on my conversations.
"Slipped out? You're screwing with my relationship. You could have at least told her the right information. Deanna cheated on me and lied about it, not the other way around. Now Hayden is mad at me and I don't know if she'll forgive me. This is all your fault."
"I'm sorry. I'll fix it."
"No, just stay out of it. I don't want you to make it worse."I have to talk to Hayden and clear everything up. I don't want to lose her over something like this. I left and went to go to Hayden's house. Hopefully she'll listen and understand.
A few minutes later I pulled up in front of Hayden's house. I parked and went to ring the doorbell. The door swung open, revealing Hayden with a vacant look on her face.
"Oh, hey Ashton." She greeted, her voice having little emotion.
"I came to apologize. I want to clear everything up. May I come in?"
"Sure."
I walked in and was surprised that Brandon wasn't sitting on the floor playing with his toys.
"Where's Brandon?"
"Uh, Drake just left with him."
"Are you okay? You seem out of it. Did Drake do something?"
"Um, what did you want to talk about?" She changed the subject, telling me that something did happen with Drake. But I won't bug her about it. She'll tell me if she wants me to know."J.T. got everything mixed up. Deanna, my ex, is the one who cheated and lied. Not me. I don't want you to hate me for something I didn't do."
"Oh, I'm sorry. I should've listened to you before jumping to conclusions. Forgive me?""Yeah, of course. I just wanted you to forgive me."
"You didn't do anything."
"But I feel like I have."
I leaned in to kiss her and she dodged me, taking me by surprise. She forgives me but won't let me kiss her."I cheated." She said in a low voice. I released her and took a step back. Did she just say that she cheated? She cheated on me? "When Drake came over, I accidentally told him that we slept together last night and he got angry. He then kissed me and I didn't know what to do."
"But he kissed you. You didn't cheat.""I kissed him back. I couldn't help myself. I'm so sorry. It won't happen again, I promise."
"It's alright, I forgive you. I blame Drake for it. He shouldn't have kissed you. It was wrong.""Thank you. I'm so sorry for the way I've been acting. I love you."
"I love you too."
Drake's P.O.V*
I walked into my apartment and found three guys, including Darren, smoking pot on my couch.
"What the hell?" I asked. "Darren, I told you to quit smoking in here. Since you keep forgetting, I have a son that comes here regularly. I don't want him inhaling this stuff."
"Quit worrying about it." Darren said. "Live a little. You've become so boring." He smiled. He's totally high right now. There's no sense in trying to talk to him while he's like this. "You know you want some of this. Take a hit." He held out his cigarette towards me. "It's like a magic wand, except you inhale the smoke that comes out of it." They all laughed and agreed. Does he even know what's coming out of his mouth right now? I remember when I used to get that high. I'd see hallucinations and think everything was funny. I'm glad I've left all of that behind.""No. I'm leaving, but by the time I come back, all of you had better be gone. And I'm taking your keys Darren."
I grabbed Darren's keys and headed out with Brandon. I hate that Darren keeps ignoring me. I tell him all the time that I don't want Brandon around the drugs and smoke, but he just keeps bringing them in. I want to kick him out so bad, but I know he'll just keep coming back.
If only I didn't allow him to move in in the first place. What was I thinking? I should've known something like this was going to happen. We may be best friends, but we get on each others nerves most of the time. Actually, I think I'm beginning to hate him. He's a creep and annoying.
I'm kicking him out and keeping my apartment for myself. I'm changing the locks and I'm going to have a drug free home like I had before. I'm not getting in trouble for something I didn't do. I don't want my parole officer to find drugs anywhere in the house. I don't plan on going back to jail and to be out of my son's life. He needs me and I'll always be here for him. I'm done being passive towards Darren. It's my apartment and I'm the one that's taking charge.
