"I don't know," Rick said shyly as his bandmates tried to convince him to go talk to you.

He had spoken to you a few times, but each time he did he had managed to make a fool of himself. Whether it was not knowing what to say, saying too much or simply not saying anything at all, he'd done it. And here he was again, dying to talk to you and dying to make a good impression.

"Rick, Rick, Rick," Nick said before he took another sip of his nearly empty drink, "its simple, you just walk over and sit next to her like this."

Nick stumbled over to Rick and plopped down next to him, placing his arm around him as he turned his head to look at Rick with a smirk, "and that's when you do this, now listen carefully."

He motioned for Syd and Roger to lean in as well. Once they were close enough he smiled cheekily.

He looked right at Rick, "Are you a campfire?"

"Excuse me-?" Rick started.

"Cause you're hot and I want s'more-"

"For gods sake," Rick sighed as Syd and Nick fell out laughing.

Roger walked over to Rick, not as amused by Nick's pickup line.

"Rick, please just go over there before Nick decides to try that out on her," Roger said.

Rick let out a little laugh and glanced over at you to see you smiling at something your friend had said. He felt his stomach twist as he thought of how beautiful you looked. Your hair delicately framed your face and fell neatly on the back of your sleek black dress. Your eyes shone brightly and happily in the dim lights of the party, making him smile as he watched you glow.

"Rick?" Roger said again.

Rick took a deep breath and got up out of his seat, looking down quickly to adjust his shirt.

"You've got this," Roger said, supportively.

"He's right," Syd said, smiling over at Rick, "she won't be able to resist," he said with a wink.

Rick shook his head with a smile and made his way over to you. The walk seemed like ages to him, like the room kept stretching and kept him farther and farther away from you. Then all of a sudden there he was, standing right behind you totally unprepared. Your friend smirked and nodded her head towards him as he took his final step to you. You turned around and felt your face heat up when you saw him. You mentally yelled at yourself not to embarrass yourself in front of him this time.

"Oh, hey Rick," you said cheerily, "what brings you here?"

You cursed yourself the minute that question left your mouth.

Rick, meanwhile was blushing because you remembered his name, "Well, I decided to stay for the after party since our gig went well."

"Right, sorry I forgot this was your party," you laughed awkwardly.

He chuckled and looked down shyly at his shoes, "I don't mind," he said.

"Hmm?" You said.

He looked up and felt like a nervous school boy as he stuttered to explain, "Oh- I mean I don't mind that you forgot, you know, it's more than okay."

"Oh," you said with a smile, "well I'm glad."

You were both so painfully shy that your friend couldn't help but laugh, making Rick feel even more nervous than before.

"Well, goodnight, (y/n)," he said, wanting to stay but refusing to make a fool of himself any longer.

You felt your heart sink, "Bye Rick," you said as he started to walk away.

Your friend groaned.

"What?" You asked sharply.

"The two of you! That's what! It's so obvious what you both want, so go get him already!"

You felt a boost of confidence at her words and when you turned back to see him you nodded your head, "You're right."

You marched over to his table, feeling ten times braver and not even phased that his bandmates were by his side.

"Rick?" You said as you marched towards him with all the courage you could muster.

He turned around unable to speak before your lips met his. He widened his eyes in surprise for a moment, but as soon as he registered that it was you kissing him, he felt more relieved than he ever had before. His hands cupped your face as his lips responded to yours enthusiastically. You were so lost in each other that you almost forgot your surroundings.

"That a boy, Rick! Told you the campfire line would work!" Nick cheered from his spot next to Syd and Roger, who looked surprised at the turn of events.

You pulled away to see Rick's cheery smile that always made you giddy, "I came over here to uhm, well I wanted to tell you over there, but I-" you stuttered, making the boys laugh as they realized you were just like Rick.

He watched you blush and he pressed a kiss to your lips again to stop you from feeling nervous, and it did just the trick.

When he pulled away you beamed up at him as he held your face, "I like you a lot, is what I wanted to say."

He felt happier than ever as he nodded, "I like you a whole lot too, (Y/n)."

You both laughed at how silly you felt standing there talking like teenagers.

"Come on," Rick said as he intertwined his fingers with yours, "let's get out of here."
