Imagine laying on your floor listening to records. The music was mellow, fitting perfectly with the gloomy sky outside. You closed your eyes and let out a sigh as you payed close attention to the various notes being played. Syd walked into the room and smiled when he saw you lying there. He had been with you for a few months now, but he never failed to feel butterflies when he saw you. You began to sing along with the song, hitting each note perfectly. He didn't want to disturb you so he shuffled behind the door. A smile curved onto your face before you stopped singing.

"Syd, you don't have to hide, I heard you come in."

He let out a laugh, "I wanted you to keep singing, it was absolutely lovely."

"That's a bit of an exaggeration," you said with a giggle.

You leaned your head back to see him coming over to lie next to you. His eyes held a soft expression as he rested on his side to look at you.

"I beg to differ," he said in a soft voice.

You blushed as he looked over you silently. You turned onto your side and moved closer to him so you could put your forehead to his. You closed your eyes and let out a contented sigh as he reached down to intertwine his fingers with yours. The music continued to play softly as you laid there with him.

"What are you thinking?" You asked quietly.

You opened your eyes at the same time he did and watched him carefully consider his next words.

"What am I thinking," he said to himself, making you giggle, "lots of things."

"Really?" You said with a little smile as you admired his gentle features and the way they moved when he spoke.

He nodded.

You began to hear the sound of rain hitting your roof, making both of you look up at the window. You sat up to get a better view and smiled when you saw lightning light up the now dark sky. He sat up next to you, but his focus was solely on you. He admired your amazed expression and felt nervous excitement in his stomach as you turned your gaze to him.

"What?" You asked with a little giggle as you noticed him staring at you.

He lifted his hand to play with a strand of your hair, "I think I know what I'm thinking about now," he whispered.

You felt your own stomach being assaulted with butterflies as his eyes stayed with yours, that serious yet loving glimmer in them.

"You do?" You whispered back.

A smile tugged at his lips as he watched you anxiously look back at him.

"I love you."

You felt your heart skip a beat at the way he spoke those words that you'd been longing to hear. He didn't look nervous or scared that you wouldn't say it back, he was confident that he felt this way and simply wanted you to know. Without a second thought you wrapped your arms around him and pressed your lips to his, knocking him back onto the ground. He laughed that sweet laugh of his as he embraced you while you happily kissed him as much as you could.

"I've been waiting for you to say that," you said happily in between kisses, "I love you too."

He squeezed you tighter when you spoke and rolled you over so you laid underneath him, smiling into his kisses, which grew more passionate with each move. You spent the rest of the rainy night tangled up with him on the floor, listening to the soft sounds of rain, music and each other.

I can't stop listening to Echoes on repeat, it's so perfect.
