"So here, this is what I've come up with," you said as you set down a booklet of various poems and lyrics you had written.

David, your best friend had convinced you to show off some of your skills and make up a couple of songs for them.

The boys gathered around as Roger read aloud some of your lines. You felt your face start to burn red, nervous as you heard your own words echo through the walls of the studio. You patiently waited for them to complete the page, glancing at Dave every now and then to see what he thought.

Roger nodded his head in approval as he flipped to the next sheet with curiosity, Rick and Nick moved closer to get a better look. David peered over Roger's shoulder, soaking up your words like they were a cool drink of water on a hot summer's day. His eyes moved fast, reading every last letter that you had written with pure astonishment. Once he had finished the page, he looked up, letting his eyes study you now. A smile pulled at his lips when he noticed you blushing nervously as you listened to your poetry. He got lost in thought as he watched your delicate hands fiddle with the pen you held in them. His eyes moved back up to your face, looking away quickly when he met your eyes.

"You wrote this?" Roger asked, holding up the booklet in disbelief.

You nodded your head with a small smile.

Roger let out a breath and shook his head, "This is fantastic," he said as he handed you your booklet back.

"You really think so?" You asked.

Roger smiled at your almost innocent expression as you clutched the booklet to your chest, "I do, absolutely. In fact, if you don't mind, I'd love to read more," he said.

David felt a little frustrated at the cool tone of Roger's voice that seemed to make you blush. He had no business feeling jealous, but here he was almost hating Roger for making you smile. Meanwhile, you were a little disappointed David hadn't spoken at all.

"Yes, yeah that would be amazing," you responded, a little halfheartedly.

Roger's approval meant a lot to you, but David's meant the world.

Roger smirked, "I'll call you, until then, keep writing," he said with a wink as he threw his bag over his shoulder.

You nodded and smiled as you watched him leave, David following close behind. You sighed went to pack up the rest of your things with some disappointment on your face.

David stopped just outside the door, biting his lip before he decided to turn around.

"Hey," he said as he walked over to you.

You looked up, feeling much happier to see him there, "Hey, I was starting to worry maybe I didn't live up to your expectations, you were so quiet," you teased.

He shook his head as he rested his hands on the table you had your things on, "No, (y/n), you exceeded them," he said as he looked up at you, softening as he met your eyes, "you're writing is almost as beautiful as you are."

You felt surprised at his words, you felt your stomach twist and your tongue tie, leaving you standing there speechless.

He felt a stab of regret and looked away from you, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have- I should go," he said before he turned on his heel and headed straight for the door.

You shook yourself out of your daze and your head snapped to him, "No, David, wait."

He turned around, his eyes hopeful as he looked back at you.

"I'm glad that you think that," you said softly, "I was actually hoping you'd say something like that."

He tilted his head a little bit with an amused smile, "Really?"

You nodded with a little laugh, "Yes, really. You had me scared that Roger might beat you to it though."

He laughed, "I guess he almost did, didn't he?"

You rolled your eyes with a smile, "Please."

A silence fell over you both as you fixed your eyes on each other.

"Well, I don't want to keep you, catch up with your band," you said, not wanting him to go, but not knowing what to say other than how unbelievably happy you felt with him looking back at you.

He nodded his head and started to turn away, but he stopped himself. He threw you that little smirk and walked over to you and pulled you into him, meeting your lips with his. He smiled into the kiss at the surprised sound that escaped your lips. He pulled away and smiled proudly at the silly smile he left on your face.

"Why don't you come along with me and maybe we can continue this over dinner?" He asked smoothly, which came as a surprise to him.

You nodded your head immediately and he took your hand in his. You walked through the door and much to your dismay, ran into Roger on the way out. He glanced confused at you and David's intertwined fingers, which made you smile nervously, but you couldn't help but laugh at David's proud smile.
