7-Wicken

At around 12:30 pm, Wick called. He must have kept my home phone number after all these years.

"Do you want me to pick up your grandma at 1?" Kyle asked.

"Don't worry, I'll do it. I fixed my car." I said.

"No, no, you stay home and relax. I'm in the area." Kyle said.

"Okay, fine," I replied.

I hung up.

At 1:15, I was still waiting for my grandma. On my day off, I wasn't really looking forward to waiting for someone. At 1:30 I heard my stomach grumble. Then I remembered something. On my first date with Wick, he took me out to this cheap Chinese place a mile away from the Senior Center. That was why he was in the area. My grandma has dementia, and I bought her a tracking bracelet for emergencies. I kept watching her every move, like a stalker. First, she got out of the Senior Center and then the tracker started speeding up as she got in the car. After a few minutes, it stopped. At Shing's Chinese Restaurant. I panicked.

I didn't want to look like a slob, but Wick didn't like it when I dressed up. I threw on some cargo pants and a Science competition t-shirt.

I pretended to be napping when the door opened. "Oooh, I knew I remembered the right key," my grandma laughed.

"Good afternoon, Raven. Are you hungry?" Wick tapped me 'awake.' I saw his dark brown eyes and stubble. Good times.

"Yeah, I actually didn't eat lunch yet."

"I brought some Chinese food for you," he said.

"What a surprise!" I lied. "Ooh, I love Shing's."

"Raven Reyes, will you marry me?"

My heart jumped. Wick and I were just starting to be friends. He dropped the marriage bomb and I was the victim. He was just standing there, too. He didn't have a ring or anything. It truly scared me.

My grandma was in her room looking for her pills. Wick was still standing there. We only talked for a few hours, and now he thinks we should spend the rest of our lives together.

"Sit down," I told him.

"So?" he asked again.

"Let's talk."
