I was just inspired by last Wednesday's episode of the 100 where they jumped forward 6 years. It was amazing! So here we go.

6 years later

Kane's POV

Today is Abby's birthday. Clarke and Bellamy have spent the past week here, flying in from Atlanta. That's where Bellamy is currently stationed as a commanding officer.

I open my eyes and turn around in bed. I see Lindsay, Clarke's older daughter, sitting on the ground next to the bed.

"What are you doing here?" I ask. "Are you hungry?"

"Waffles!" she jumps up. 

"Quiet, don't wake up your grandma." I swirl out of the sheets and pick her up. We walk to the kitchen. 

I see Bellamy inside the kitchen drinking coffee. Clarke is on the couch drawing a portrait of Abby.

"Good morning, Marcus," Bellamy smiles. "I couldn't find the waffles so I sent her up there."

"Thanks," I laughed. "As long as she doesn't wake up Abby."

After Lindsay and Logan were born, Clarke started coming up here more often. I never had kids, so being a grandfather is an interesting experience.

I dig out some waffles from the freezer and pass them to Bellamy. Then, I walk back upstairs to see Abby. She has woken up by now.

"Happy birthday, Abby," I kiss her on the forehead. 

"Thank you, Marcus." She sits up now, about to say something. "Remember that time over at Arkadia General when you faked your own death for my birthday?"

"Yeah, well, you hated me, so, I thought it would brighten up your day." I shrugged. "I guess things have changed."

"I was new to the job, Marcus. I just didn't get to know you." Abby laughed. "And look what happens when I get to know you."

"You get lucky, that's what happens."

I get dressed, thinking about what she just said. Because I really did get lucky. And I'm not just talking about that scratchers ticket I bought with my company credit card.
