Lincoln's POV

I felt cursed. As soon as Octavia and I found our moment, something happened to her dad. I didn't know what made Bellamy more upset: Octavia and I or the current situation with his father.

We got to the hospital and ran out. Bellamy was talking to the receptionist when Octavia stood around, looking really worried. She had thrown over a tank top and shorts, but her hair was still wet. She looked vulnerable.

"Linc, what if...?" Octavia started to ask.

"No, no, it's going to be okay." I pulled Octavia in for a hug and let her lean in to my chest.

I sounded just like my father did when my mom died. He kept hiding the truth from me. After two months of my mom being on a 'business trip', as my dad called it, I figured out that she was dead.

My dad was able to move on pretty quickly, and married another woman three years later. And then my half brother, Nyko, was born. But losing someone really took its toll on me. I didn't want the same for Octavia.

"He's in room 23," the receptionist told us.

"Thank you," Bellamy agreed. We walked over to room 23. Octavia's dad was laying in bed, appearing to be stable.

A doctor passed by us and asked if she could talk with Bellamy. They were talking for a few minutes, and Bellamy just kept on nodding.

He came back and told us what happened. "So, David had a heart attack, and this one was worse than normal."

"What are we going to do now?" Octavia asked.

"They want to use prescription blood thinners to help him recover. But if his blood is thinned, and he cuts himself, he'll have a real problem." Bellamy rubbed his temple.

"I think we should try it," Octavia said. Bellamy looked around, looking really stressed. Just then, the doctor came back and Bellamy signed some forms. We walked away, slowly.

"We'll tell you the results in a few hours," they told us. Octavia sat down and held Bellamy held her hand. I interlocked mine with hers and felt like there was hope.
