Abby's POV

Here I was, in public, finding out that Kane was into someone else.

When I told him to move on, he sat there, and I walked away. Then I turned around. "Call me when you've made your choice." The truth is, I don't want to play games. I just want a simple relationship where I can find someone to spend the rest of my life with. 

It was also bad timing. Marcus and I wanted to start something between us, right when I had to change hospitals. Of course, he would be tempted to see someone else, I know how he is.

I got in the car and drove back to Tondc General. It was a slow day, so I decided to go online and so some shoe shopping for Clarke's wedding. I was searching for something comfortable and elegant when I got a call. From Marcus.

"Abby, are you there?" Marcus asked.

"No, I'm busy cheating on you with a guy who stalks me," I snapped. 

"Oh, I see we both have a thing for stalkers." Marcus laughed. "Anyway, I found something... about Diane."

This sounded weird. I had just been thinking about her. OH YEAH, SHE STOLE MY BOYFRIEND, THAT'S WHY.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Well, she's married already," Marcus said.

"I wouldn't be surprised. So is this why you're choosing me?" 

"It's not the only reason." Marcus paused. "You know Abby, you are so much to me."

Those words stuck with me. 

"There are a lot of things I like about you," Kane continued. 

"Okay, fine," I caved. "One last chance."

"I can assure you, I won't let you down," Kane said. 

"Okay, I believe you."

I hung up and let out a big sigh. My desk was crowded with papers and reports, reminding me of the stressful hours that lay ahead. I still found myself thinking about Marcus. 

After work, I went straight home and crawled into bed. I fell asleep instantly.
