Aquiver ~29
•Jacob Whitesides•
I'll wait for her for when she is ready. Hayes has really put her off the edge tonight. She's really breaking and it's really painful to watch her go through this. Charlotte came here to fix things between her and Hayes.
I sigh slightly frustrated with Hayes for hurting her. Again. I look down at my lap to see Char fast asleep. We are in the waiting room on a couch and I've been playing with her hair for the past half hour. I knew she was tired and wasn't prepared for Hayes' response.
Her poor heart. I want her to be happy and carefree. I want to see a genuine smile on her face. She has gone through a lot in the past year. Years even. Right now she looks peaceful and relaxed. That was how she was this weekend with me. I want to take back all her worries and pain.
My phone vibrates in my pocket and I take it out to see Nash calling. I immediately answer and bring my phone to my ear.
"Hi...?"
"Hey," Nash says from the other end softly. "Is... it possible to bring Char back into the room?" I look down at her remembering everything she has said to me right before she went to sleep earlier.
"She doesn't want to go back into the room."
"How bad was it?"
"She's more than hurt Nash. She has finally went to sleep. She was so upset with herself and she doesn't want to see Hayes right now." I hear a sigh on the end and talking to Cam or Hayes.
"Do you want to have Cam bring you two back to the cabin?"
"Yes, please." I look down at Char and she stirs slightly. I freeze for a moment before I gently to move a strand of hair out her face.
"Cam will be right out."
"Thanks Nash. I'll probably be back at the apartment Monday evening."
"That's fine. Um, I think my mom and Sky will be there by then. I'm picking them up Monday afternoon."
"Alright. Have a goodnight Nash."
"Thanks. You've really been taking care of Char. Thank you." I smile tiredly before I hang up.
~Four in the morning~
I wake from my sleep and notice Charlotte moving uncomfortably. I sit up and notice that it's still really early. What time is it? I look towards the alarm clock to see read four thirty in the morning. A mumble escapes her lips and I frown slightly of what's going on.
A whimper escapes her lips next and I immediately place my hand to the side of her face worried. I don't think she has ever had one before. Her whimper continues and I start to hover over her. Her forehead is creased.
"Charlotte," I call to her gently and tap her shoulder with my other hand.
"No..." she whimpers and I realize she's crying.
"Char, wake up," I say with more force this time. She's squirming slightly in her sleep and I try to hold her. Her breathing is becoming heavier and I'm afraid to shake her awake. Her whimper becomes a volume louder and now I'm really hovering over her trying to wake her.
"Don't hurt me," she cries and my confusion takes over about her bad nightmare. She whimpers again like she is in pain. "Hayes, please. You promised me."
I let out a shaky breath. Does she always think of Hayes twenty-four seven? Why would she be dreaming of him of all things?
"I love you," she whispers. "Don't... do this to me. I need you." Jealousy and hurt takes over. I pull my phone out unsure of what to do. I facetime Hayes, because I don't know what else to do. He answers and the phone connects. It takes a moment and Nash appears on the screen instead.
