Aquiver ~31

"Please be nice to her," Gray says to me as we walk up to the cabin and we knock. Aaron knows we're coming. I let out a sigh and only nod.
"Hayes really is freaking out over her right now."
"Yeah, I thought that was pretty worrisome. The least we could do was personally check up on her." The door opens and Aaron opens the door.
"Hey guys, come in. We're hanging out in the back," Aaron smiles and welcomes us in. We walk through the cabin and out to the back where there is a bonfire going on.
Everyone is sitting around. I look around and realize I don't see Charlotte. Jacob is here and he looks pissed off. That's a new look.
"Guys, the other twins are here." Everyone turns their attention towards us and I realize just about everyone has been drinking. This is lit. Drinking underage with Andrew and Jared around. This is so chill.
"Hey guys," Shawn says raising a beer bottle I'm pretty sure. Jacob looks like he has some sort of wine. We join them and Aaron hands both Gray and I a bottle of beer. I don't open it quite yet as I take a seat next to Jacob and Gray sits by Aaron and Shawn.
"Hey," I say to Jacob.
"Sup," he says taking anything sip of his wine. "How was your trip?"
"Great. Pretty sick." He nods and continues to look towards the fire. I look around and realize everyone has their own conversation going on. Where the hell is Charlotte? I'd like to tell Hayes she's completely fine. "So... why do you look like you want to kill someone?"
"Just mad. I'm fine."
"You sure? You really don't look fine."
"Will you let me enjoy my wine in peace?"
"Where is Charlotte?"
"Why do you care?"
"I'm just wondering."
"I don't know."
"What the hell do you mean you don't know?" My eyes widens. Shit has she not been seen all day?
"She's probably upstairs in the room." I sigh knowing I should probably check.
"Alright. Whatever. I'm going to use the restroom." Jacob doesn't say a thing as I quickly get up and my way inside of the cabin. I look for a stairway and make my way up. I start to check the bedrooms.
"Charlotte?" I call out. Each bedroom so far is empty. The bathrooms are empty. I walk over to the last bedroom nervously, because maybe Hayes was right. I knock as I approach the last door. I open it and can tell this was the room she was sleeping in. I walk in to see the bed unmade.
Her cellphone is on the side table along with a flashlight. Strange. I pick her phone up and see only one text and it's from Jacob about four hours ago. It's currently eight thirty in the evening now. I read the text because it's not like someone to just leave their phone behind for a long period of time. I read the text.
Jacob ❤: Either I sleep in the bedroom or I do. I'm not sleeping with you tonight and it's clear that we are going home tomorrow morning so pack your things.
Shit, what happened now? What has been going on? It's obvious that she's not here. The flashlight... a trail! That's probably where she went. I take the flashlight and run out of the room taking her phone with me. Everyone here has been drinking. I'll let Gray stay just in case I need him for later. I go out the front door and look for a trail nearby.
I look towards the woods since that would be the only walking trail there would be. She probably wouldn't be at the lodge around people. I sprint my way towards the trail and turn the flashlight on. The trail is dark and I start to worry.
I jog following the trail and start to call out her name. She could be anywhere. I know these trails pretty well. I use to go on a run on this specific trail. The furthest she could go would be six miles before it leads her into town or back to the lodge.
"Charlotte!" I call out as I'm jogging. She wasn't in the cabin and Jacob said he hasn't seen her since this morning. That's over five hours ago. She could be hurt. I know what you're you're probably thinking.
Since when did Ethan care what happened to Charlotte Carpenter? Since right now since she's probably in some sort of danger and Hayes is one of my best friends. She has to be alright, right?
~Fifteen minutes later~
"Charlotte!" I yell afraid that she's really out here. Where else could she be? She would have taken her phone if she was fine. "Please answer me!" I stop for a moment in the grassy plains. It's one of my favorite spots to be. I'm painting really hard.
The moonlight shines down on the field and I look around.
"Charlotte please!" I beg hoping she is nearby.
"H-help!" One sharp pitch sounds nearby and I look around trying to find the source of the sound. I walk in the direction of the voice. As I walk towards the center of the grassy plains, I notice an opening in front of the tree.

Too many glasses of wine to count. I sigh and realize I should apologize to Char. I really over reacted for no reason and I was the one in the wrong.
I'm about to walk back out when Shawn walks in and he has a glass of water in his hand. He looks at me with confusion.
"You alright?"
"Not really," I answer guiltily. "I need to check on Char." I put a hand through my hair suddenly feeling like an idiot for just putting her through more than she already has.
"I'll go with you." We both slowly start to make our way towards the staircase and we walk up them to walk towards the end of the hall. I notice the door opened and I frown confused. I walk ahead and walk into the room to find it empty.
"Char?" I ask nervously. I walk over to the bed and notice there isn't any sign of her being here. My mouth parts and I start to worry. I look at Shawn and he looks just as worried.
"Jacob..." Shawn starts. "Where is she?"
"I... don't know. I'll call her." I take my phone out going to my contacts. My hands shaking.
