"Wow, it's so... New." I walk in and look around."But it's nice. Right?" Mom asks me and sets the keys down on the kitchen counter.
"Yeah, I didn't really believe you when you said it before. I mean things don't tend to look the same in real life as in pictures." I look towards the door and see the moving guys bringing in the furniture. "Thank God you hired people to do this for us because I'm exhausted from all of that driving."
"Yeah, you're welcome. But I didn't just do it for your sake, I'm getting old, my back is killing me." She says rubbing her lower back.
"I'm going to go upstairs to check out my room." I start to go to the stairs.
"Well there is two bedrooms upstairs and mine is down here." She points down the hall.
"Oh okay that's cool." I walk up slowly. "Thank you Lord that I get upstairs to myself." I mumble.
I get to the top and see one room on the left and one on the right. "Hmm, which one do I want?" I walk into the one on the left and it's somewhat small so I go across and look at the other one. "Ooh, nice."
I come into the room and look around the empty space. There's a closet, a nicely placed window and a connecting bathroom. I walk into the bathroom, "bless this bathroom."
I head downstairs to see most of the living room put together. "Hey, this looks pretty nice."
"Doesn't it?" Mom says from the kitchen putting all of the kitchen supplies and spices away.
I slowly walk into the kitchen to help her put things away. "Need some help?" I ask.
"I think I've got it in here but I need you to go and get the shit out of your truck and put it in your room and start setting all of that up." She motions to the door.
"Ugh, alright." I drag my feet against the floor and out the door.
I grab the couple of boxes that I had with me. I set them on the ground and close the door and lock the truck. Let's just say that our old neighborhood wasn't the kind of neighborhood that you can safely leave your doors unlocked.
I pick up the boxes and try to see over them to get to the house. I manage to make it without dropping everything or killing myself so I'd say good job to me.
"Okay." I open the door. "This is all I had in there so I'll be upstairs." I start to jog up the stairs, not a very good idea because this time I almost died.
"You okay?" Mom yells.
"Yeah I'm good I almost just died but you know almost don't count." I laugh at myself and continue up the stairs.
"Weirdo." I hear my mom say once I'm all the way up.
Apparently my trip to the truck took longer than I thought because my room now had a bed and dresser in it already. I sit the boxes on my bed and look around.
"Uh, here is your TV and the rest of the boxes from the moving truck." The mover guy says with two other guys following him into my room.
"Oh, thanks." I say awkwardly. "Just sit them anywhere."
"Okay." He says.
They all sit everything down and leave my room. I get up and start to unpack all of my clothes first.
2 hours pass.
I'm in the bathroom putting my shower stuff away listening to music when I hear a ding from my phone.
It's a text from my aunt.
"How's the new house?" She asks.
"It's coming along." I reply.
"That's good sweetie, let me know when you're finished and send me a picture of your room." She says.
"Will do, love you." I answer.
"Love you to honey." She says finally.
"Well that was nice of her." I tell myself.
1 hour later
I finished all of the unpacking and folded the boxes up. I pick them all up and take them downstairs to the trash.
"Hey mom, I'm finished unpacking." I say towards her room.
"Okay good." She calls back to me. I walk into her room and see all of her stuff nicely put away.
"Well you clean up nicely." I say plopping on to her bed.
"Why thank you daughter. So you're room is done?" She asks walking across the hall to her designated bathroom.
"Yeppers. Good thing I had to clean everything out before we packed or else I'd be in deep shit." I say.
"Hey! Watch your mouth." She yells from the bathroom.
"Oh shit sorry!" I yell back.
"Paige!" She yells again.
"My bad!!" I say walking to the kitchen.
I grab a bag of chips, sit on the couch and turn on the TV.
"Don't make a mess because if you do you're cleaning it." Mom tells me from the kitchen which she magically appeared into.
"What the- mom how'd you get in there so fast?" I ask.
"I'm a fucking ninja, did you not know that?" She laughs.
"Obviously I didn't." I giggle.
"We are enrolling you into school tomorrow but you don't start until next week after they do their spirit week thing." Mom says to me as I stand and put the chips away.
"Eww, okay I guess." I make a face and start to the stairs.
"So that means don't stay up all night it's already 11:00 pm, we have things to do." Mom looks at me with a straight face.
"Fine." I walk up the stairs to my room.
"Goodnight Paige, I love you." She says.
"Goodnight mom, love you too." I answer back.
