"Hey mom, I know you're at work and everything but I wanted to ask you something." I text.

"Sure honey what's up?" She replies a little to quickly.

"I wanted to tell you that I made a new friend." I say.

"Oh that's great." She sends back.

"Anyway I wanted to ask you if I could go over to my new friends house." I ask.

"You're 18. I guess I'm okay with it but I need you back by 10 tonight." She replies.

"Okay! Will do. I'm also going to drop my truck off at home before I go." I tell her.

"Sure that's fine. Take your keys though so you can unlock the door when you get back." She says.

"Okay I will. I love you mom." I say.

"Love you too." She sends.

Good. mom is okay with it, I'm okay with it, everything's okay.

4: pm

Ring.

The bell for school to be over rings and I take out my phone to text Max.

"Hey Max. Where are we meeting?" I ask.

"Your truck?" He asks back.

"That's fine if you know where it is." I reply.

"Pretty sure you can't miss that big ass truck." He sends.

"Whatever smart ass." I lock my phone.

I walk out to my truck to see a silver car parked next to it while the other students are flooding from the parking lot.

"Country boy drives an Audi I see." I say to myself as I'm walking. I knock on the window.

"Hey quarterback. I didn't have you pegged as an Audi kind of guy." I joke.

"Well you should never judge a book by its cover." He chuckles.

"I'll take that into consideration." I giggle. "Follow me out?" I turn and go to hop in the truck.

"Sounds like a plan." He replies backing out.

I pull out of the school parking lot and drive towards my house with Max following closely behind. When we arrive I pull into the driveway, get out and lock the doors.

"Hop in." He pushes a button and the top of the car folded down into a convertible.

"Very nice." I open the door and buckle up.
